Call of Duty Introduces Robot Zombies in a Mode You’ll Never Play

Call of Duty - Robot Zombies_690x406

Zombies mode, introduced in World at War and brought back for every Treyarch developed Call of Duty since, has become a staple of one of the biggest franchises in gaming, and one of the leading reasons some buy into the shooter every second year. Don’t worry though. When you kill every zombie, cut through each piece of rotting flesh and are finally safe, there’s another thing to worry about: Robot Zombies.

No, this isn’t a special hidden mode in Ghosts, and it’s not a secret hint at some future DLC. Instead, this is a newly announced mode from Call of Duty: Online, the free-to-play title you’ve probably never played. Why? It’s region locked to China.

This is actually a real shame. Containing some of the most popular maps from the franchise and supported entirely by micro-transactions, Call of Duty: Online would be a great way of experiencing some of the best CoD has to offer without shelling out on a new game every year. Now they’re getting content completely original to their version, and it contains Terminator-esque mechanical brain chompers.

In a recent investor call, Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision confirmed that Online might eventually make it to the west, so Robot Zombies isn’t entirely out of our reach. For the time being though, this trailer is about as close as we’re going to get.
