A Florida man was shot dead after a deal gone wrong over a Playstation 4, the Orlando Sentinel reports. The victim, 25-year-old Emmanuel Johnson, met up with another man at around 4:30 p.m. November 17th to haggle over the PS4. The two were originally supposed to meet near the Orlando police headquarters, but one of them decided to change the location at the last minute. When they finally met, things went from bad to worse and a shootout ensued, killing Johnson and wounding the other man. The shooting is still under investigation.

Here’s a blurb from the article:

Emmanuel Johnson, 25, was killed after being shot in the 700 block of West Church Street late Sunday.

A 23-year-old man, who has not been identified, was hospitalized with gunshot wounds, according to Orlando police.

Investigators say Johnson and the other man arranged to meet outside Orlando police headquarters at 4:30 p.m. for the sale of the hot video game console — 1 million of which were sold within the first 24 hours of its nationwide debut on Friday, according to Sony.

This story comes in the wake of the first two reported Playstation 4 robberies, both of which took place in California, one at a Best Buy involving a “replica gun”, and the other involving a real gun at a GameStop parking lot. It seems like every console launch something like this happens. They’re freak occurrences, to be sure, but it’s still sad to see violent acts happen like this (or anytime, really), particularly over something as trivial as a video game console.
