Bioshock 2’s Minerva’s Den Coming to Steam

bioshock-little-sister2_690x400

While Bioshock 2 received some rather mixed reaction from fans of the original, I’ve never heard a bad thing about Minerva’s Den, with maybe one exception. It never made it to Steam. That seems about to change.

Minerva’s Den has appeared in the Steam Registry. It’ll be available for download individually, playable with your copy of Bioshock 2, or it’ll be bundled up with the full game for those that have never played either.

Minerva’s Den had previously only been available for those that bought the game through the Games for Windows Live platform. Now that that platform seems pretty much dead and gone (even Microsoft chose Steam over GFWL with Age of Empires II), Developers are looking to make their old content available again without the terrible DRM that had plagued it before.

No official word has been made on Minerva’s Den coming to Steam, although the Steam registry is, of course, a pretty reliable source. Even Final Fantasy VII, albeit after several years, ended up being available for purchase.

The Minerva’s Den DLC takes you to a new part of Rapture at the same time as the events of Bioshock 2. It deals with a few things left over from Bioshock 2 – including Tennenbaum’s complete disappearance after the first few chapters – and adds a few twists and turns of its own.
