blank

Across the world, over a billion people play video games on a regular basis. While most of us play video games for fun, these games are a lot more fun when we are winning or playing well. However, getting good at video games is easier said than done.

In an effort to help you become a better gamer and win more games, we have decided to craft an article and guide aimed at helping you get better at video games. While there is no guarantee you will become a professional, of course, these tips should definitely help you improve.

Practice, Practice, Practice

Of course, the first thing you will need to do is play a lot and practice almost every day. There is no “secret sauce” when it comes to getting better at video games, you need to simply put the work in. Whichever game you want to improve at, you need to play it often.

Not only that, but you need to get better at all aspects of the game, not just one. For example, if you want to get better at Fortnite, you not only have to get better at shooting, but also at building and being a good team player. Also, there is no set amount of time or practice you will need to put in. That will depend on your base skill as well as the game you are playing.

Have the Right Equipment

In order to be the best gamer you can possibly be, there are some pieces of equipment out there that will help you to succeed. Firstly, you should invest in a gaming headset. This will help you identify game sounds in a way that surround sound simply cannot do. Next, you will want to make sure you have a fully-functional controller, and also a TV that can provide you clear and a high-quality picture.

Also, if you are playing online, you will want to ensure that you have a solid internet connection. If you are able to, try and connect your gaming system directly to your router or modem instead of wifi, as it will provide a more reliable connection.

Be Critical of Yourself and Your Gameplay

If you make excuses as for why you aren’t good at a particular game, you will never get better. Instead of blaming lag, or your opponents or other things, you need to be critical of how you play the game. Are there things you are doing wrong? Things you can do better?

If so, be sure to correct these things in future gameplay. By eliminating the mistakes in your gameplay, you will be able to improve very quickly. Of course, old habits die hard, so this might take a little bit of time, but will be worth it in the end.

Watch Professional Streamers

There are few better ways to improve than by watching professional gamers and streamers. Twitch and Youtube is home to hundreds of outstanding gamers, playing games of all different kinds. No matter what sort of game you are playing, there will likely be someone out there streaming it.

By simply tuning in and watching their tactics and gameplay, you will learn the right and wrong things to do. Also, these streams have chats so you (or anyone else) can ask them questions about how to improve or any game-specific tips they might have for novice players looking to improve.

Take Some Breaks

While practicing for hours and hours is important for improvement, you also need to make sure you are taking breaks every now and then too. It’s not good for your mind or your body to game for hours and hours without a break. Gaming for too long without a break can cause some serious health concerns.

Breaks should be taken at least once an hour or so, and they should involved getting up, walking around a bit, stretching and having some water. Not only is it healthy, but playing with a fresh set of eyes and and a clear concise can also help you play better, too.

Sit in a Good Gaming Chair

As you have read, getting better at a game can take a lot of time and some long gaming sessions. In order to have these long gaming sessions without going through some serious back pain, shoulder pain and neck pain, you should invest in a high-quality ergonomic racing style video game chair.

These chairs will offer full back support, and ensure your shoulders and neck are comfortable as well. These come in a variety of different price points, so be sure to do some research to see what sort of chair you can afford. Also, don’t be afraid to spend a bit more to get a quality chair, as you will be spending a lot of time sitting in it, so you want to make sure it holds up.

Have Fun and a Positive Attitude

Last, but not least, you need to not forget why you play video games in the first place, to have fun. While playing well and getting better is important, don’t do it at the expense of having fun. Gaming should be fun, even when you are trying to get better at a certain game. Sure, it might get frustrating at times, but always be sure to bounce back. If you’ve lost some of the enjoyment when playing, then look at switching things up by playing games that are fun to play, such as those available on Planet 7.

A positive attitude will also help you play better, as it will be tough to improve if you have a toxic attitude and are unwilling to make changes or accept that certain things you do might be wrong. Go into each gaming session with positivity in mind, and try not to let what happens during the game deter you from that. We all rage from time to time while gaming, but it really doesn’t do anyone any good.

In conclusion, these tips will help you to become a better gamer. They are universal tips that can help anyone who plays anything from Fortnite, to Call of Duty to NBA 2K. Getting better takes time and patience, so don’t expect it to happen overnight as it almost certainly will not.
