4 Reasons to Grab a Nintendo Switch Now!

The Nintendo Switch has had its share of ups and downs already in its short life cycle, and the system is adored by some and down right hated by others. Some say there are not enough games, while others cannot get through all the game available now without coming up with a way to create days with more than 24 hours. It seems to me that either you love it, or you hate it, with very few sitting on the fence in between. If you haven’t already purchased a Nintendo Switch, and are on the fence about doing so, we provide our top 5 reasons why you need to go out and get a Nintendo Switch now! While there are definitely more reasons than this, we pinpointed these as our top 5.

1. Obtaining a Switch and Accessories Still Isn’t Easy Locally

I’ve heard from a ton of people who say they will be getting a Nintendo Switch at Christmas when Super Mario Odyssey lands on the system. While I understand the thought process, I’m not entirely sure that’s a great idea. If you are willing to go online with your purchase, you might be able to obtain a Switch during the holidays, but if you are looking locally – especially in a small town – things could get difficult.

No retailer in my area currently has a Nintendo Switch in Stock, and a number of the high profile accessories are also not available, including the Pro Controller. Can I get these online? Sure, but not locally. If you wait for a Holiday deal, I’m afraid local retailers will be swamped with demand, and without your own dedication to getting one – waiting in line? – you might miss out. I’m even skeptical of Nintendo being able to keep up with Holiday demand, but that is a topic for another day.

2. Lots of Great Games Already Available

The Nintendo Switch has a ton of quality games already on stores shelves and ready to be played, including (but not limited to): The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, ARMS, Disgaea 5 Complete, and much more. For the most part, these games have terrific metacritic scores, and are a must own for any real Nintendo fan. Breath of the Wild, for example, is easily one of the best games of 2017, which might be only rivaled by Super Mario Odyssey when considering which game deserves Game of the Year, across all platforms, not just Nintendo Switch.

3. Games Incoming!

If the games already available are not enough to entice you, just think of what is coming down the pipe from Nintendo! In July we have Splatoon 2, packed with content as detailed in our latest Nintendo Direct update from last week! Whether you play online or offline, Splatoon 2 promises to offer lots of content to both types of gamers. If Splatoon doesn’t get you excited, perhaps playing the new Mario and Rabbids game from Ubisoft in August! Mario+Rabbids: Kingdom Battle is launching in late August, and proves to be a completely unique experience on Nintendo Switch. Do you really want to be the one missing out on this?

The games keep coming folks, and it doesn’t look like they will stop anytime soon. We have Pokken Tournament Deluxe in September, Super Mario Odyssey in October and more great stuff in November and December!

4. 3rd Party Support

Unlike when the Wii U launched, developers are lining up to release their products on the Nintendo Switch, and while some developers are ‘nice’ to have on the system, I do think there is one specific genre of developers you need on your console: sports! EA Sports and 2K are eager and ready to launch their titles on the Nintendo Switch, and both will do so with FIFA 18 and NBA 2K18 launching on the system this September.

Add titles like Skyrim to that mix, and you know there will be a great number of 3rd Party Developers ready to get their products out to the Nintendo community. Also due out this year: Stardew Valley and Steamworld Dig 2, two titles we are really looking forward to.

Are you convinced? Get out there folks and grab a Nintendo Switch. It’s completely worth the investment to do it now, rather than later!
