More Thoughts From Me: Golden Persona
I loved Persona 5 Royal. I gave it a 10 out of 10 in my review. I had never played any of the other Persona games before. And so when it was announced that Persona 3 and Persona 4 Golden were coming to the Switch, I was excited. I couldn’t get both games right away though. I decided to get Persona 4 Golden because I had heard a lot of good things about it. And now that I’ve played it some, well, I have some thoughts on the game!
Persona 4 Golden is…
…absolutely great. As great as Persona 5 Royal? I wouldn’t go that far, at least not yet, but I do think Golden is pretty great.
The graphics, of course, are not as good as Royal because Golden is an older game. Its gameplay, however, holds up very well.
If you played Persona 5 Royal, than Golden’s gameplay will feel a little familiar. The game stars a group of high school kids who gets drawn into a mystery and have to start using Personas. There is a social element to this game just like Persona 5. You’ll spend time in class answering questions and also spend time with your friends. The social aspect feels a lot like Persona 5. The mystery, however, is very different!
In Persona 4 Golden, instead of going into people’s minds aka palaces, you’ll find yourself going through a TV into another world. This alternate world has its own versions of palaces and dungeons. The battle system is turn-based just like Persona 5s, though not as stylish as the aforementioned game. Battles in Persona 4 Golden are bit more simplistic but still so addictive. I’ve only played through the first dungeon so far. I’ve been a bit distracted by Fire Emblem Engage. Still, the dungeon was simple but addictive because the layout changed every time you went in and you’d find various treasures and enemies.
I can’t wait to play more of this game. I really need to get myself away from Fire Emblem for a moment and dig more into Persona 4 Golden. I love the social aspect and the creative mystery story. This game is so very interesting. Its another addictive game, just like Persona 5 Royal. I’m so glad I got it. I’ll have to get Persona 3 sooner or later.
Have you played Persona 4 Golden? What do you think of it?
More Thoughts From Me is an opinion column. The thoughts expressed here are mine and mine alone. I’m definitely a fan of the Persona series now.
