3DS Game Reviews

7.5 Ice Station Z

You are alone, out in the middle of nowhere with nothing, and a bunch of zombies want to kill you. Well, unless you play the online mode and then there are people everywhere and not many zombies.

8.0 Gurumin 3D: A Monstrous Adventure...

Gurumin 3D: A Monstrous Adventure is an action adventure platformer for the 3DS eshop. We’ve seen a few games like this on 3DS but what makes Gurumin different is that it is a fully three dimensional game and more like something we’d see from a retail game. In fact, Gurumin 3D seems like a game that fans of Mario and Zelda would like, but is that true? Is Gurumin 3D a fun addition to the 3DS eshop? The ...

7.5 Epic Word Search Holiday Special

My dad and I really love Lightwood Games word puzzle games. So whenever Lightwood puts out a new word puzzle game, I have to review it because I know it’ll most likely be good and something we’ll want to play. The newest word game from Lightwood Games is called Epic Word Search Holiday Special and its for the 3DS. As the name suggests, the word puzzle focus is on holidays this time. Is this another word puzzle ...

9.0 Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of th...

I love role playing games. I was a huge fan of the Final Fantasy games until they turned into action games. And I really love Dragon Quest 9 from Square Enix too. So when Square finally announced that Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past was coming to the North American 3DS, I was excited. I couldn’t wait to play the game! And now I’ve played the game, I’ve finished it, and I finally have a review ...

8.5 Yo-Kai Watch 2

Over the past two weeks, we have been promoting and proving lots of written coverage on YO-KAI Watch 2; through are articles, and videos from YouTube's Abdallah, we have done our best to provide our readers with the best YO-KAI Watch 2 content on the web.

6.0 Quest of Dungeons

You decide you want to a wizard and your buddies tell you to go alone into a dungeon. Haven't they ever heard thats its "dangerous to go alone?" Oh well. You are a very brave wizard (perhaps a little foolish too).

8.0 Splat the Difference

Can you spot the difference? Lightwood Games, the masters of word puzzle games, turns their attention to a different type of puzzle game. Splat the Difference for the 3DS is all about spotting the differences between a picture on the top screen and a picture on the bottom screen. Its a simple concept, but is it a simple game? Does Splat the Difference provide a moments distraction or is it something more?

9.0 Futuridium EP Deluxe

There are not very many New 3DS exclusive games, so when a new one comes along, its definitely a time to celebrate for New 3DS owners. I happen to own a New 3DS and I was very happy to hear of a new game for the system. I received a review code for this New 3DS game, Futuridium EP Deluxe, and dug in. Is Futuridium worthy of the New 3DS? Futuridium doesn’t have much of a story. There is a…

6.5 The Legend of Kusakari

Everyone knows if you want to find a heart or rupee quick in a Zelda game, then you had better cut the grass and see what you can find. But what if there was an entire game about grass cutting with a sword? And you don't find hearts or rupees when cutting the grass, no sir, the grass cutting is the point of the game!

7.0 Word Logic by POWGI

Back during E3, I played a demo of Word Logic by POWGI. I thought that the game was very hard, but also very interesting. And now the game is coming to the Wii U and 3DS on Thursday. Lightwood Games provided me a copy of both versions and here are my final thoughts on the game!

8.0 The Battle Cats POP!

The Battle Cats POP! for 3DS is unlike any game you’ve ever seen! It has a unique sense of humor, style of graphics, and gameplay. I’m pretty sure it’s the strangest game I’ve ever played too. Does any of this make The Battle Cats POP a good game? Buckle up because here’s my review for The Battle Cats POP!

6.0 Infinite Dunamis

Infinite Dunamis is the latest rpg from Kemco for the 3DS. I’m very happy that the company continues to bring rpgs to the system. How good is Infinite Dunamis? Here’s my review!

9.0 Kirby Planet Robobot

There is something charming about Kirby games. Despite all the destruction the little pink ball can do, he's so dang cute, even when he is decked out in robotic gear! However, with Kirby Triple Deluxe just a year and a bit old, how much does Planet Robobot add to what we already have on the 3DS

8.0 Dragon Fantasy The Black Tome of ...

Sequels are sometimes better than the first game, but more often than not, sequels are worse. Dragon Fantasy: The Black Tome of Ice is the second Dragon Fantasy game for the 3DS (its also available on Wii U but I didn't review the Wii U version), with a third one already planned. Is The Black Tome of Ice better than the first game, as good as the first game, or did the developers drop the ball?

7.5 Epic Word Search Collection 2

Lightwood Games is one of my favorite developers. Word search games are probably a niche category of gaming, but I enjoy them a lot. Not every game Lightwood has done has been perfect, but they have a high quality to their games overall. Their newest game, Epic Word Search Collection 2, came out recently for the 3DS.

8.0 Disney Art Academy

The Art Academy franchise has a fairly loyal following, and each new title pulls in an extra audience. Last time around it was Pokemon, and understandably, the game sold a lot better than regular iterations of the Art Academy series. This time, Nintendo is partnering with everyone's favorite mouse to deliver Disney Art Academy on Nintendo 3DS. Disney Art Academy brings back all the old things from previous ...

6.0 Justice Chronicles

The Nintendo 3DS has a lot of role playing games coming out this year. Among the big rpg titles coming out, there are also some rpgs coming from Indie developers. One of the Indie rpgs recently released is called Justice Chronicles. How is this 3DS eshop rpg?

8.0 Return to PoPoLoCrois: A Story of...

If you remember, last year when Story of Seasons launched on the 3DS, we coverd it ... a lot! I was doing weekly diary entries about where I was at in the game. I was hoping to do something similar this time around, but unfortunately this title doesn't really allow for that type of article writing. However, we have published a lot of preview coverage which I will link below. However, it's now time to put a score ...

8.5 Hyrule Warriors Legends

Outside of a few consistent releases - I'm thinking primarily of the Mario and Sonic titles - many Nintendo games don't find a home on both Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. However, the Hyrule Warriors title - a spin off of the Dragon Warriors series - has landed on both. While the 3DS does have more content than the Wii U version, is it necessarily worth purchasing on handheld, or for a second time? We think so!

5.0 Blast ‘Em Bunnies

How do you feel about bunny on bunny violence? If you’re ok with one bunny shooting at other bunnies, than you may want to check out this review of Blast ‘Em Bunnies for the 3DS.

8.0 Word Puzzles by POWGI

Lightwood Games loves Word puzzle games. The developer has already created several, with my favorite so far being Word Search by POWGI. Now, Lightwood has gone back to POWGI to deliver another word finding experience for the 3DS and the Wii U with Word Puzzles by POWGI. Is this new game any good? Let’s find out!

6.0 Lionel City Builder 3D: Rise of t...

In a desolate future, a man and his dog need your help. No, this isn’t Fallout 4. I’m talking about Lionel City Builder 3D: Rise of the Rails, a train simulation game released recently for the 3DS. In the game, you drive trains and deliver stuff in the Story Mode and build stuff in the Creation Mode. But what if you have no interest in trains? Is Lionel City Builder a good game for everyone, a good one for just ...

9.5 Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam

Paper Mario games are great, although have been trending downwards since the release of The Thousand Year Door on the GameCube. The last release, Sticker Star, was lackluster to say the least, borrowing heavily from the 2D Super Mario games heavily by removing the ‘open world’ and replacing it with Worlds and Levels, i.e. World 1-Level 1. On the other hand, Mario and Luigi games have always been strong titles, ...

9.0 SteamWorld Heist

If you ever played SteamWorld Dig, you know that developer Image and Form is not messing around. They take time to make their games, but they are damn fun! I have owned - and played - SteamWorld Dig on multiple platforms, and plan to do the same with SteamWorld Heist if it is as good as the previous title. I had my reservations, especially since I am not a big fan of turn based titles. All I can say is...wow. ...

7.0 Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon

Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon will not be a game that every 3DS or Pokemon fan will like, but that doesn't mean it does not have some redeeming qualities. Individuals who have been turned off by previous Mystery Dungeon titles will not be won over with this latest installment. The core game play mechanics have not been overhauled much from previous titles, but the inclusion of 20 Pokemon to select as a starter, ...

8.5 Yo-Kai Watch

If you have never heard of Yo-Kai before, I would not be surprised. Although the franchise is already a huge hit in Japan - two games, a TV show, and lots of merchandise - the franchise in North America is just getting off the ground. The TV show hit North America earlier this fall, and the first Yo-Kai game in North America launches this Friday. The real question is: Is Yo-Kai Watch on the 3DS worth your time? ...

8.0 The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force He...

Apparently, lumping together Zelda and the 3DS is not always going to produce an epic adventure like The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Tri Force Heroes might use the same graphical approach, but the game could not be any more different. Despite what many reviewers are saying online, I really, REALLY enjoyed my time with Tri Force Heroes, both in single player and multiplayer. Read on to find out more!

7.5 Animal Crossing: Happy Home Desig...

When Animal Crossing: New Leaf came out, Animal Crossing fans were losing their minds over how good the game was. And to their credit, it was good. Great in fact! So when Nintendo announced a spin off title that involved decorating the homes of our favorite characters, fans again voiced their excitement. I enjoy Animal Crossing, and while I enjoyed New Leaf, Happy Home Designer had me incredibly skeptical.

8.0 Little Battlers Experience

Unless you have young kids, there is a really good chance you have never heard of Little Battlers Experience, or LBX for short. I am not in that camp; my five year old son watches LBX religiously and was very excited for the release of this 3DS title. When the review code finally came through, however, I was surprised, as I thought this was a Holiday 2015 title.

9.5 Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrint...

Another adventure with our favourite Persona 3 and 4 characters? Yes please! Plucked from the middle of their respective games, the two separate casts are united in an alternate dimension modelled after Yasogami High during its culture festival. Searching through labyrinths for clues, the massive team of Persona users must find their way out along with two new characters, Zen and Rei.
