More Thoughts From Me #152: Ten Games I Want To Play In 2019

Last week/year, I told you about my favorite games of 2018. This week, I want to tell you what games I’m looking forward to the most in 2019!

There are so many games coming out this year. Some of the following games may make it onto my best of 2019 list but some might not. There are tons of indie games and other games that I don’t know about. Nintendo always has a surprise or two up their sleeves and so do the indie developers. The following list are the top 10 games I’m looking forward to this year:

10. Chicken Wiggle (Switch): I loved Chicken Wiggle on the 3DS. I gave the game a 10 out of 10. I should’ve just given it a 9.5 because c’mon, Chicken Wiggle for the Switch will be even better with its new HD graphical update (plus you can use the original graphics if you want) and the return of all the levels and the level creation-all on the Switch! This game is going to rock and I can’t wait to play it.

9. Concrete Genie (PS4): Wow. This game looks really good. Concrete Genie is an action/adventure game where you play as a character who draws onto walls and those drawings come to life in very cool ways. I have no idea when this game is coming this year but I hope I get to play it!

8. Psychonauts 2 (PS4): sigh. I know putting this game on this list might be jinxing it. We don’t know for sure that Psychonauts 2 will be out this year. I’m hoping though! The new trailer at the Game Awards looked amazing. And playing the orignal game on the PS4 recently has me even more excited for the sequel.

7. Final Fantasy 7 (Switch): FF7 may seem like an odd addition to this top 10 list. I’ve played FF7 before on the PS1. Why would I be looking forward to it so much? I’m looking forward to playing it again…on the Switch! Final Fantasy 7 is the game that got me hooked on rpgs. To be able to play this game anywhere and at anytime is going to be a big deal. So out of all the FF games that Square announced for the Switch, FF7 is my pick. Though I admit I wish I could pick all of them!

6. Resident Evil 2 (PS4): One of my favorite Resident Evil games is Resident Evil 2. And now Capcom is doing a remake of the game (and its out this month). I think the new graphics & RE4 camera could make this remake even better than the original. Lets go back to Raccoon City!

5. Yoshi’s Crafty World (Switch): Yoshi Woolly World was a really good game but Crafty World looks even better. The wonderful cardboard graphics along with the fun looking gameplay makes this game a must play!

4. Fire Emblem: Three Houses (Switch): Fire Emblem Fates made me a huge fan of this franchise. This new one, the first one for the Switch, looks amazing! If this list was a pure 2019 Nintendo list, Three Houses would be number 2. I’m looking forward to this new Fire Emblem a ton.

3. Dreams (PS4): I almost put this game at number 2. I’m hyped for this game. I was a big LittleBigPlanet fan. Dreams is taking creation to the next level though. Hopefully I’ll get into the beta this month. I really want to play this game!!

2. Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS4): Kingdom Hearts fans have been waiting forever for the third game in the franchise. And its almost here! Later this month, Kingdom Hearts 3 comes out and oh man, I’m so excited. I loved the first two games. This new game looks like the best one yet! It has a Frozen world and a Toy Story world and Big Hero 6 world and more. I am so ready for this game.

1. Animal Crossing (Switch): If you’ve read this column before or know me even a little bit, this shouldn’t be a surprise. I love the Animal Crossing franchise. I still play New Leaf every day! When Nintendo announced that a new AC was coming in 2019, I almost lost my mind. I am so excited for this game. Here’s hoping it comes out in June (or earlier. lol).

Games That Almost Made this List: Metroid Prime 4, Final Fantasy 9, 10/10-2, & 12, Dragon Quest 11 S, Dragon Quest Builders 2

This year is going to be an amazing year for the Nintendo Switch and Playstation 4. I’m so glad that I own both systems. I don’t want to miss out on these games or any of the other big surprises coming our way.

What are you looking forward to this year?

Next week: I recently bought LittleBigPlanet 3 for the Playstation 4. I just had to find out what LBP creators have been making in the game. And now I have. What do I think of LBP3? What kind of cool things have I seen on it? You’ll find out next week!

More Thoughts From Me is an opinion column. The thoughts expressed here are mine and mine alone. I wish I could play Animal Crossing Switch right this minute!
