The Nioh Collection, What you need to know

If you are one of the lucky folks to get a PlayStation 5 and you are looking for a punishing time well then the Nioh Collection might be right up your alley. Released on Feb 5th The Nioh Collection takes both Nioh and Nioh 2 and all 6 DLC packs and throws it in one nice package for you.

There is a ton to get excited about, even if you played through Nioh  and Nioh 2. With beautifully updated graphics and all the DLC packs included, this really is the ultimate Nioh package and at a great price too. There are dozens of hours of content here to enjoy, and every minute is as amazing as the last, and this is coming from someone who has played both the original Nioh and Nioh 2. The biggest reason for me to pick up this package and play again was all the DLC I missed. When I looked at purchasing DLC for the titles I already owned on the PS4, getting this package just made a lot more sense! Here are a few of the upgrades you can enjoy:

  • Defy Death and Unleash your Darkness. In this expansive collection, journey through Sengoku-era Japan to face nightmarish foes and legendary warriors in blisteringly fast hardcore combat.
  • Master the way of the samurai in Nioh, then unleash your inner darkness in Nioh 2 – each expertly remastered and enhanced for PS5.
  • Discover the complete Nioh saga with all six major expansions included. Battle the Yokai threat at a targeted 120fps* with ultra-fast load times. (*gameplay at 120fps requires a compatible monitor that can support this feature)

The game features various configurations for performance ranging from 120 fps to 60 with resolutions in 4k and 1080p so you are bound to find something to fit the needs of your setup. There is hundreds of hours of content in this collection to get you right into the action. Including DLC right from the start that will allow you to select weapons right from the beginning that were not available until post-launch for both games. This is a big deal for lots of gamers.

It is no secret that the majority of large games like Nioh and Nioh 2 never get played through to completion, so tying a lot of DLC to the post game can be infuriating for some players. Unlocking most of it from the start is a huge improvement, and one that other titles should attempt to adopt.

If you have done absolutely everything the original games offered, then perhaps this isn’t for you. But I would argue this is the only reason (and even then, the gorgeous updates make it a worthwhile revisit in my opinion). If you are on the fence as to whether or not Nioh is for you check out our coverage of both of the games from the past. You can find our review of Nioh HERE, and our review of Nioh 2 HERE!
