Our friends at 2K have launched a number of stellar titles this year, and we wanted to wrap them all up and put a shiny bow on what was a great year for the studio. With the holiday’s around the corner, here are a few titles we think you should check out from 2K Games. Where appropriate, we have linked to our reviews of the games in case you want more information! Without further ado, let’s hop in!

This page will continue to be updated with our favourite games from 2K, including Civilization VI, The Quarry, and NBA 2K23!

Civilization 6

I’ve played Civilization 6 across multiple platforms, including PC and Nintendo Switch. I wasn’t sure what to expect when loading it up on my Xbox Series X. Here is the thing – I’m not here to tell you that Civilization 6 is a better experience on the Xbox, but it is an equally good experience. While I definitely appreciate the Swtich version the most – I love gaming on the go! – I know others, a more hardcore audience, will love it on PC. But if you own an Xbox and want to conquer the world – literally – then this is an easy recommendation. Civilization has dominated the turn based strategy game genre for a long time, and it has been my go-to strategy game, even ahead of RTS giant Age of Empires! You cannot go wrong with this title!

NBA 2K23

It’s been a long time since I had the pleasure of playing an NBA game on console, but with my oldest son recently becoming obsessed with the sport, we took a deep dive over the past few weeks. The game comes packed with some great modes, but we have settled on creating our own franchise and working our way through an entire season, cooperatively. it’s been a blast watching my son learn the ropes of playing an NBA game. Unfortunately, he plays a lot more than I do so I lose more often than not when we go head-to-head.

2K is getting better and better at creating realistic simulations of sports, and the presentation in this game is some of the best I’ve seen in any sports game, period. While it might become a bit much for some people – all the commentary, charts, graphs, and more – I find it exciting. It really pulls me into the experience, and that’s a big plus for me with sports titles. If you are looking to get something for that basketball fan in the house, NBA 2K23 is a great get!

PGA 2K23 – PGA 2K23 Review – GamesReviews.com

After taking a year off 2K is back again returning to the golf game, however, much has changed in the landscape of the game in the past few years. Between LIV golf coming in and taking players out of the PGA for the promise of HUGE payouts, to being unable to use stuff that was licensed previously by EA for their golf games, 2K had a challenge to make this game work, and I think they did a pretty fair job at making the best of a rough situation.

Obviously, first off, they have their cover man in Tiger Woods, throw in the addition of quick play fun with some multiplayer Top Golf, finally splash in some celebrity endorsements with playable Michael Jordan and Steph Curry and you are off to the races. This game plays well, is easy enough to learn and is beautiful and relaxing. This game is great for any fan of golf, and is a cheaper alternative to the real thing. You can expand that experience by using golf simulators for home, but you would need of space to do it. Is also a great game to play with friends, get the boys off Call of Duty every once in awhile and play a round or two and chat.

WWE 2K23

Jump back into the ring with a plethora of superstars from past and present. With exciting modes such as MyGM where you get to draft your own superstars and book events while being conscious of your spending to create a show to whip the fans into a frenzy. This is a great fun mode that you can do where you can spectate or participate in your events as well.

It’s the ultimate in Fantasy sports simulation. You can also build your ultimate faction of superstars and battle it out in daily, weekly and special challenges to unlock more to your roster, upgrade your wrestlers and build your management. Don’t forget the always fun create your own wrestler ability, you can make your friends, celebs, musicians and make them battle it out.

If you don’t want to jump through the hoops you can browse the absolutely massive online database of created characters to add to your roster. Then if you want some wrestling history you can take the ring as Rey Mysterio Jr and live through some of his greatest matches of all time. This game is fun for both current WWE fans and ones that might have strayed. With a revamped control scheme it’s easy enough to pick up for any skill level.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderland

What happens when you take Dungeons and Dragons and smash it up with the off kilter, murder filled, hijinx of Borderlands? You get Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, a full fledged Borderlands game that brings it back to the fun and form of yesteryear after a lackluster Borderlands 3. Writing is superb and hilarious, poking fun of everything (even Smurfs).

With the looter heavy gameplay and tons of action (even if guns don’t match your typical D&D campaign) and blast your way through an epic adventure. One of the best shooters to come out this generation hands down, and it’s even better when you bring your friends along for the ride. With plenty of DLC to boot, there is a lot of meat on this bone and it’s worth every penny.

The Quarry

The Quarry is a 3rd person interactive story game developed by SuperMassive (Until Dawn). You play as a group of camp counselors who need to survive their final night of summer at Hackett Quarry. Your choices and decisions shape the narrative of the game and ultimately determines who lives and who dies. Due to the nature of the game offers a lot of replayability, so that you can make different choices and find other collectables you might have missed. With a stellar cast including Brenda Song, David Arquette, Halston Sage, Ted Raimi, Ariel Winter, Ethan Suplee, Lance Henriksen, Lin Shaye and Justice Smith. The games tone is along the lines of the great horror movies of the 80s like Friday the 13th, can you survive the night and figure out just what is going on, or will you succumb to the night? This game is recommended for an older audience due to the nature of it, but is an easy recommend for any horror movie or survival game fan!
