Saints Row is getting a reboot, coming in Feb 2022

It’s been a while since we’ve seen a new Saints Row game. While Saints Row 4 and Gat out of Hell didn’t impress me much, Saints Row the Third is one of my favorite games of all time and I loved being able to go back to it with the recent remasters. They also did the spin-off Agents of Mayhem which was also a lot of fun but didn’t quite find its audience and the narrative was a little weak for me. All of that is about to change.

Deep Silver announced the next Saints Row, just called Saints Row, during today’s Gamescom Opening Night event. It will release on February 25 for PC and PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

This will be a reboot for the franchise, with a focus on new characters and gameplay elements more similar to the earlier Saints Row titles. In this title you are playing as a new gang attempting to break into the scene in Santo Ileso going toe to toe against rival gangs. The wackiness seems toned down a bit, but still looks fun as heck.

In a world rife with crime, where lawless factions fight for power, a group of young friends embark on their own criminal venture, as they rise to the top in their bid to become Self Made. Experience the biggest and best Saints Row playground ever created; the unique sprawling world of Santo Ileso is the backdrop for a wild, larger than life sandbox of thrilling side hustles, criminal ventures and blockbuster missions, as you shoot, drive, and wingsuit your way to the top. As the future Boss, with Neenah, Kevin, and Eli by your side, you’ll form The Saints – and take on Los Panteros, The Idols, and Marshall as you build your empire across the streets of Santo Ileso and battle for control of the city. Ultimately Saints Row is the story of a start-up company, it’s just that the business The Saints are in happens to be crime. While the trailer focuses on 4 specific characters they have confirmed online that you will also be able to create your own character if you want to as well. You can check out the full trailer below and join me in the hype until we get our sweaty palms on this one in Feb!

Married and father of 3 children he has been gaming since the ripe age of 6 when he got his first NES system and over 30 years later he is still gaming almost daily. Kevin is also co-founder of the Play Some Video Games (PSVG) Podcast network which was founded over five years ago and is still going strong. Some of his favorite gaming series includes Fallout and Far Cry, he is a sucker for single player adventure games (hence his big reviews for Playstation), and can frequently be found getting down in one battle royale or another. If it's an oddball game, odds are he's all about it.
