More Thoughts From Me #232: What’s Important

I was going to write about Bloodstained Curse of the Moon 2 but this year and the larger issues with a splash of video game thoughts. I think we all lose sight of the big picture sometimes, then life hits us on the head and reminds us. This could perhaps be my last column or perhaps not. My future is uncertain at the moment.

My life is a mess. I won’t go into details but things have gone downhill for my family.

I love writing for this site. I love playing video games. I love reviewing video games. I may be able to continue doing that..and maybe not.

The future is so uncertain these days for so many people. I think we all lose sight of whats important from time to time. Years like this remind us (though I wonder if there has ever been a year like this one).

2020 has been a hard year for everyone. There are a lot of people who have awful stories to share about something thats happened to them this year. If you don’t have one, consider yourself very lucky. Tell your family you love them because you just never know…

Gamers tend to lose sight of the bigger picture. We start fighting about which console is better or getting upset because that game doesn’t look as good as we wanted it to. And in a year when everyone is struggling, we expect all the major companies to have stuff for us to play. We don’t understand why Nintendo hasn’t shown us much.

Currently I don’t care about any of that. I care about my loved ones and my friends. I care about what will happen next in my small part of the world and in the bigger part of the world too. If Nintendo doesn’t release any more games this year, that okay by me. Look: we are in a pandemic. It hasn’t ended. People are still suffering.

Whether its from the virus or its just from other things, life in 2020 can be very harsh. I know. I’m sitting in a situation that looks so awful at the moment. It may get better and then again, it may get worse.

Don’t lose sight of whats important: family, friends, loved ones. But you know, keep an eye and an ear and your heart open for the stranger too. Wear a mask when you go out please. Try to be nice to people. If you can help somebody, help them.

Let’s try not to fight about video games this year. Instead, lets band together and enjoy our life. Let’s play video games to escape things when we need them and lets escape from the video game console wars this year.

Things are rough in 2020. Video games should be an escape.

How are you doing this year? What has been your favorite video game escape?

Next week: I have no idea if there will be a column next week. If there is, I’ll try to write about something more cheery.

More Thoughts From Me is an opinion column. The thoughts expressed here are mine and mine alone. All the best to you guys. Thanks for reading.
