Ghost of Yōtei Is Taking Over This Week’s State of Play

If you’ve been itching for more details on Ghost of Yōtei, the wait is almost over. Sucker Punch is finally giving us a deeper look at their next big open-world adventure during a special State of Play this Thursday, July 10—and honestly, we couldn’t be more excited.

Set in the wild, snow-covered reaches of northern Japan, Ghost of Yōtei introduces us to Atsu, a warrior on a mission for vengeance. While Sucker Punch has kept most of her story under wraps, we know she’s got a score to settle—and we’re about to find out why. This week’s showcase promises to dive into her journey, her enemies, and the world she’s fighting to survive in.

The broadcast will feature nearly 20 minutes of gameplay, hosted by Sucker Punch’s Creative Directors, Jason Connell and Nate Fox. That’s not just a teaser—it’s a full-on deep dive. Here’s what they’ll be showing off:

Atsu’s new weapons – We’re talking fresh combat mechanics and tools that look seriously fun (and deadly).

Customization options – From gear to skills, you’ll be able to shape your journey to match your playstyle.

Special gameplay modes – No details yet, but we’re hoping for something as cool as Ghost of Tsushima’s Legends mode.

If you loved the atmosphere and storytelling in Ghost of Tsushima, Yōtei looks like it’s going to take things even further. The setting is colder, harsher, and more mysterious—perfect for a story that blends myth, history, and raw emotion. We’re expecting stunning visuals, immersive exploration, and maybe even a few supernatural twists.

Here’s when to tune in:

  •       Thursday, July 10
  •       2 PM PT / 5 PM ET / 10 PM BST / 11 PM CEST
  •       Streaming on PlayStation’s Twitch and YouTube channels

Let’s be real—Ghost of Tsushima was a masterpiece. It raised the bar for open-world storytelling, and Ghost of Yōtei looks like it’s ready to raise it even higher. From what we’ve seen so far, this game has everything: a compelling new protagonist, a gorgeous and dangerous world, and gameplay that looks both fresh and familiar in all the right ways.

We’ll be watching the State of Play live, and you can bet we’ll be breaking down every second of footage afterward. Whether you’re a longtime Sucker Punch fan or just love a good samurai story, this is one showcase you won’t want to miss.
