LIVE A LIVE-New Trailers

New trailers for LIVE A LIVE, Square Enix’s upcoming HD-2D jrpg for the Nintendo Switch, have been released. You can check them out below, along with some thoughts on each of them.

LIVE A LIVE features multiple characters and multiple stories, much like Octopath Traveler. The biggest difference is that each of the stories takes place in a different time period and setting. The first trailer here shows off a story that takes place in the distant feature. The setting will remind Square fans of Chrono Trigger’s future setting mixed with some more Japanese neo-noir settings. It looks pretty neat!

The second video shows a story that takes place in the distant past in Japan. You play as a ninja and we see a bit more of the game’s battle system shown off. Its very Octopath Traveler-like. Though these two unique settings show off how much Square is really developing the HD-2D style. Its the last trailer, though, that gives us a radically different setting!

The old west?! Yep! The final trailer shows off a story that takes place in the Old West. The first two settings seemed to be set very much in Japan (past and future). This one shifts the story to the old west and gives us showdowns, horse riding, and more. This trailer looks like Wild Arms meets Octopath Traveler. I have to admit that I’m most excited for this story!

LIVE A LIVE looks like a fantastic game. A little bit of Octopath Traveler, a touch of Saga Frontier, and even some Chrono Trigger and Wild Arms vibes. The game is now available for pre-order on the Nintendo Switch eShop and it comes out on July 22nd!
