N64 HDMI Converter Coming Soon

Nintendo_64

The N64 is a nice piece of kit, with a library of games that make it well worth keeping on the shelf. Still, there’s one thing that isn’t all that cool about it. If you want to play it, you need to keep around an older TV, or use a converter from eBay. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to play Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask on the flatscreen, without using an emulator?

That day has come.

A designer, Marshal H., has announced his plans to release an HDMI Converter which you can solder into your N64. This will allow you to output via a HDMI cable to any new TV, although it’s important to note that you won’t be getting a native 1080p picture. If you don’t fancy yourself much of an electrician, you’ll be able to buy an N64 console from him with the chip pre-installed. Prepare for a whole new level of convenience if you’re a regular N64 player.

From Marshal H.’s website, on the release date for the converter.

Tentative release date is Q1 2014. To be honest it’s one of many things I have going on, and I’d rather not release a crappy product, so it’ll be done when it’s done.
