Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden Impressions

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden came out this week. We received a review copy of the game and have been playing it. While our review isn’t ready yet, we did want to share our impressions of the game so far. Here are our thoughts on Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden for the Xbox Series S.

I’ve been playing Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden for review. I just got the game this week and I’m still early in it, but I wanted to provide our readers with some impressions of the game.

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden starts off a bit slow, though still interesting. Two Banishers, aka ghost hunters, go to New England (in the 1800s) to help out an old friend. A curse has befallen New Eden and the banishers might be their only hope. Things go badly.

I don’t want to reveal anymore than that for now. I might have to for my review but for now, lets just say that the bad is good for the player because it makes the story even better. And it adds to the gameplay!

After the bad thing happens, you’ll be able to switch between the two characters easily and each of them have their own unique abilities. You’ll also be able to upgrade the characters and their equipment at resting spots. Its pretty neat. Ghosts of New Eden has you fighting ghosts, but you also get involved in helping people with Haunting Cases.

I took on my first Haunting Case in Banishers yesterday. These cases involve investigating what happened to someone who is haunted by a ghost. Who is the ghost? How did they die? Why did they die? Should you ascend the ghost to the afterlife or banish them? Should you punish the living? You have to investigate what happened and then you make your decision. Its not the only decision you’ll have to make.

I’m trying to be very careful of spoilers here but in order to talk about Banishers Ghosts of New Eden more, in my review, I might have to spoil the initial twist. This is just a warning for our readers. I’ll try not to but it really plays into what the gameplay becomes.

The twist is shocking. The gameplay is pretty good! I’m enjoying Banishers a ton so far.

Stay tuned to GamesReviews.com for our full review of Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden as soon as possible.
