Outriders Review

Outriders is a very interesting experiment and take on multiplayer gaming, while not a game as a service it would be interesting to see if they offer anything beyond the campaign down the line because there is nothing there to drive me to get better loot or return to the game outside of creating a new character of a different class. But it is a very FUN game to play with friends if nothing else really grabs you about it. Plus it was an excellent addition to Gamepass, which is definitely helping the player count I think a lot. I definitely think this is a ...

Observer: System Redux Review (PS5)

Observer is a psychological horror video game played from a first-person perspective. The player controls Daniel Lazarski, a Krakowian detective of the Observers police unit. He can hack people’s brain implants with a device known as the Dream Eater, for interrogation purposes. Equipped with augmented vision split into Electromagnetic Vision—which scans for electronic devices—and Bio Vision—which scans for biological evidence —he can analyze and highlight certain objects in his environment. Objects can be interacted with and examined, while dialogue ...

Curved Space Review (Xbox Series)

Curved space is a new take on the familiar twin stick shoot-em up, with a kicking soundtrack and unique gameplay style, but is it enough? Curved Space is an intense arcade-style twin-stick shooter that takes the classic formula and plunges it into the weirdest reaches of space. Battle cosmic space-invading spiders across curved landscapes where bullets hug the terrain while the horizon drops sharply out of sight. Inspired by arcade classics, players will have to hunt for weapon power-ups and…

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart Review (PS5)

Ratchet & Clank have been a staple for the Playstation for many years now, Rift Apart takes that same formula, humor, and fun we know and love and puts that next-gen polish on it that only Playstation 5 can provide and makes a basically perfect game.   The game begins with a giant parade celebrating the heroics of Ratchet & Clank over the years. You travel from giant parade balloon to balloon as they give you a brief overview of…

Final Fantasy VII Remake – Intermission Review

It’s been a 24-year wait, but Final Fantasy VII’s new piece of story DLC – Intermission – shows us exactly what Yuffie was up to before she joined our party. God, 1997 suddenly feels a long, long time ago. Of course, it looks a bit better than it would have done 24 years ago – it’s probably one of the standout titles on PS5 today. It also continues one of my favourite things about Final Fantasy VII Remake – the…

Mass Effect 1 Legendary Edition Review

The Mass Effect series is one of my favorites in gaming of any era, based almost solely on 2 and 3. I generally consider Mass Effect 2 to be my favorite game ever; I love the characters, the combat, the setting, and the story.   My history with the first game is a little bit more hit-and-miss: I bought a 360 so I could play Mass Effect. But the infuriating Mako sections, long load times, and uneven combat slowed my…

Resident Evil Village Review

You’ve seen the werewolves. You’ve seen the ridiculously sexed-up memes about giant vampire ladies. Other than giving the internet a new fetish, Resident Evil Village is a worthy new entry in the long-running series – and a great indicator of just what these new consoles are capable of. The latest Resident Evil seems to have been more meme than game for most of its known existence. Don’t let that put you off. For all the cookyness we already know and…

Returnal Review (PS5)

Having played video games for well over 30 years, some experiences stick in mind more than others. Some you can play through and put down and move on to the next thing. Some games become habit-forming and become part of a routine like Fortnite or Warzone. And then there is Returnal a game that has stuck with me so much that I literally had nightmares about it last night after playing. But I’m getting ahead of myself here. Returnal is…

Destruction AllStars Review

Destruction AllStars was going to be a full-priced PS5 launch title. Thank God they changed their mind. That’s not to say that it’s a bad game, because it’s not. But in the world of Rocket League, Overwatch, Apex and Call of Duty, this is at every disadvantage. Showcased alongside the likes of Spider-Man: Miles Morales, slapping that “ONLY ON PLAYSTATION” sticker on it meant expectations were sky-high and, without being effectively free, it would have died on arrival. But, thankfully,…

Hitman 3 Review

Hitman 3 gives back what you put into it, and man is it nice to play a game like that again. You can put zero effort into it, taking the path of least resistance and treating it like the action game it clearly isn’t. You’ll ‘finish’ it in about three hours, huff a bit and then move onto something that holds your hand a little more. Or you can see it for what it is: an assassination sandbox filled with…
