Floristry Components Overview and Impressions
If a game has a connection to plants, my wife is likely going to love it. Regardless of the production quality of a game, my wife loves everything about plants! I’m a bit harder to please – while I enjoy the plant life that surrounds me every day in my home, I still like my board games to have some flair! Thankfully, for a game that could just be all cardboard, the design team behind Floristry wanted to make sure this one popped!
The simplicity of Floristry is what makes the game so attractive. The game can be played in less than 15 minutes, which means going again and again is easy to do. There isn’t a lot in the box for players to work with – a few bits of cardboard (stand with scoring and frames for the tiles), a bunch of wooden tiles with plants printed on them, and a few wooden cats used to count final scores.
That’s all! In this tile laying game, players are trying to use their virtual money – game uses a website to play, but thankfully NOT an app! – to purchase groups of wooden tiles and place them within their frame to make large groups of the same and score points. This game could have definitely been all cardboard, but getting wooden pieces is rather satisfying.
Had the tiles you place within your frame been simply punchboard, I could see this game being $19.99 CAD. Thankfully, even with the inclusion of a good amount of wooden tiles, the game still only costs $27.99 CAD at Board Game Bliss – not a bad price for a quick, two-player game with wooden tiles!
There isn’t a ton to say here – the production is phenomenal, even for a small package. I always enjoy when a game makes key and notable upgrades, and I think wooden tiles as opposed to punchboard is a great choice here. This game could have easily been all cardboard, but it isn’t! Koodos to you, Floristry! We are happy with what we get here, especially for the price!
