More Thoughts From Me: Fortnite Reinvented

When Fortnite first came to the Nintendo Switch I checked it out and kind of liked it. I played it for a little bit and then stopped. I had been tempted to get back into it over the years but ultimately decided to stay away. Then, Fortnite got reinvented recently. Let’s talk about the changes to Fortnite and why I really love it now.

I’m a huge fan of Lego games. The Lego Marvel games were amazing. I loved Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga and the other Lego Star Wars games. And Lego Undercover! Heck, I even played Lego Dimensions. So…when it was announced and shown that Fortnite was going to have a Lego mode, well, yes I had to check it out.

Lego Fortnite is amazing! I first checked out Sandbox mode. In this mode, you can create anything you want with unlimited resources. I was playing on my own and creating buildings and starting work on a small village. I have a house, a gate, and a lookout tower. Building things is complex but also very easy to do. Lego Fortnite feels more much more like a Lego game than Fortnite. And I love that.

I also checked out Survival mode. I turned off a lot of the more extreme things like stamina and getting hungry and such. I love that you can turn that all off. I did keep enemies on and I regret that. The enemies really come after you a lot in Survival mode. whew. Though I like the simple combat. I also like how you come upon random broken buildings and other things in Survival mode. The world is huge and there’s so much to see. I know that there are caves in Survival mode and I really want to see them.

Lego Fortnite is so amazing. Its a great addition to Fortnite. I also really like the other addition.

Rocket Racing in Fortnite is incredible. I like the Lego mode better but the racing is really cool. I love how fast the cars are and the racing feels very arcadey which I’m definitely a fan of. Your car can also jump and race along walls too. Rocket Racing is an absolute blast.

I didn’t play the racing a ton but I will be playing it more for sure. I’m amazed at how much Fortnite has changed. I remember when I started playing it there was just a simple menu and you just picked your character jumped right into battle royale mode. And now the game looks much more like Netflix or Hulu with many modes to choose from and lots of stuff to see and do.

I can’t wait to play more of Lego Fortnite. I’m also excited to check out more of Rocket Racing. I will likely keep the game on my Switch for awhile now.

The only thing I wish is that you have could customize your Lego character more without having to buy a character. Its a shame that all the character stuff is locked behind a pay wall. I know they have to make money somehow but Fortnite would be even cooler if you could unlock more character stuff.

Overall though, I’m amazed by how Fortnite has been reinvented. Its become a really amazing game.

More Thoughts From Me is an opinion column. The thoughts expressed here are mine and mine alone. I wonder what the next regular Lego game will be.
