Visiting Arcade Paradise

The spectacular Kevin Austin reviewed Arcade Paradise on Monday. He gave the game an 8.5 out of 10. And now its time for my review. Do I like Arcade Paradise as much as Kevin? Do I like it less? I do I like it more?! Well, there’s only one way to find out. Here is my review of Arcade Paradise for the Xbox Series S!

Imagine if you will, you are put in charge of a laundry mat. You really don’t want to be here. Then, you discover arcade machines in the back. You decide to turn the place into an arcade. You’re Dad, who owns the place, doesn’t like this idea. So you’ll have to do this slowly and prove that the arcade can make money. As you progress in Arcade Paradise, you’ll do a lot of laundry. This is the mini-game that you’ll repeat over and over again. Its pretty simple and strangely addictive. I can’t believe I’m addicted to doing laundry in a video game. I already do too much laundry in real life!

And yet, here were are. I’m doing laundry in real life and then playing a video game where I’m also doing laundry. Its addictive and also picking up all the trash in the place is addictive too. There’s even a neat little mini-game where you time a button press right to throw the bag of garage into the trash bin! Oh and there’s a mini-game to clean the toilet too.

There are a lot of mini-games, plus you can play all of the arcade games you get too. Its great buying a new game for the place and then playing it. The retro graphics in this game are really good!

Overall, I like this game a lot. Arcade Paradise is a really neat simulation game that keeps rewarding you for all the mundane things you do. The ultimate goal of getting rid of the laundry mat is worth it! That said, its non-retro graphics are not as great as its retro graphics.

What about the laundry mat/arcade’s graphics? Well, its not the best graphics you’ll see on the Xbox Series S but its not the worst either. It just plain works for this game though. An addictive simulation game like this doesn’t need amazing graphics. Its all about the gameplay here.

The sound effects are brilliant though. You will laugh at your high score for throwing out the trash, collecting garage, cleaning the toilet or grabbing the gum off surfaces. The voice acting in this game is pretty funny too. The music is not bad.

Arcade Paradise is a complete nostalgia trip. If you remember how laundry mats and arcades were in the 80s/90s, then you’ll feel right at home in this game. I never did go to a laundry mat that also had an arcade but I had the laundry mat and the arcade experience. These two tastes combine to create the great taste that’s Arcade Paradise. The game is a blast. Now you’ll have to excuse me…I need to do some more laundry!

Arcade Paradise gets an 8.5 out of 10.
