Top 5 Hitman Games of All Time

Since its launch in 2000, the Hitman franchise has experienced one reboot after another. It also inspired two films, one graphic novel, and an online slot. Gamers always differ on which Hitman game is the best but one thing is clear: it’s not the original.

It’s an unfortunate occurrence. Hitman: Codename 47 introduced the incredible game to the world. But for better or for worse, the game inspired the creation of much better sequels. Below are five of the best games from the franchise.

#1: Hitman: Blood Money (2006)

Following the success of Hitman: Contracts in 2004, IO interactive decided to take things to another level. Infact one might say that IO took a page from casino deposit bonus on how to keep their audience entertained non-stop and they did this with the introduction of Hitman: Blood Money. The game was a huge improvement from its prequel, especially the mechanics, storyline, and gameplay

The sharp criticism Contracts received for its shoddy storyline was, in fact, one of the reasons why IO Interactive did such a wonderful job in Blood Money. From soundtracks to graphics, mechanics to gameplay, Blood Money quickly became the best Hitman game at the time.

To date, Blood Money is ranked as the best game in the franchise by most players. Keep in mind more sequels have been released, including one released in 2018. The fact that it’s also a popular game today gives proof it was well-done and deserves all the praise it receives.

#2: Hitman (2016)

Hitman is one of the most recent games in the franchise. It’s an improvement of Hitman: Absolution both created by IO Interactive.  Hitman impressed and annoyed gamers for many reasons.

On one hand, IO Interactive released each episode individually. It’s not the only company that does this but it’s frustrating and kills pace for players. Again, some not so perfect episodes received hostility from players.

On the other, Hitman 2 helped capture the gameplay and kind of missions that made Hitman a successful franchise. Unlike some of the games before it, Hitman (2016) was built with great help from fans. After releasing an episode, IO Interactive analyzed feedback given and made improvements.

In the end, the game was able to immerse gamers into the Hitman storylines. Fortunately, IO Interactive took fans’ feedback seriously and created a sequel.

#3: Hitman 2 (2018)

IO Interactive killed off its episodic release policy and gave gamers the whole package with Hitman 2: Silent Assassin. The game featured better graphics and new missions that continued the momentum started by Hitman seamlessly.

In true Hitman spirit, the game is tremendously bloody, but also immersive. While most actions invest everything in the action, Hitman 2 is properly balanced. It’s like a well-told story and grabs your attention from the start to the end.

If IO Interactive declared Hitman 2 was its last sequel, people would still applaud the developer. The game captured all its predecessors missed. It was that good. You might need a powerful laptop to take full advantage of the immersive experience as well. So, why isn’t it the best game in the franchise?

While new players will immediately get impressed by Hitman 2, avid Hitman fans, including those who play Hitman slots on free-spins.net, will notice the resemblance between this game and its prequels. For the uninitiated, Hitman slot is an online casino game inspired by the Hitman video game franchise. It launched in 2008 and uses symbols, soundtracks and themes related to the video game.

#4: Hitman 2: Silent Assassin (2002)

Silent Assassin is what helped uplift the Hitman Franchise into what it is today. While Codename 47 was successful, it was the improvements done on Silent Assassin that got everyone to become interested in the franchise.

The game was also released for PC, PS2 and Original Xbox, exposing it to as wide an audience as possible. Additionally, Silent Assassin introduced a ranking system that would be problematic today. Gamers were ranked from being “Silent Assassins” all the way up to being “Mass Murderers.”

The ranking system gave Silent Assassin a cult follower though as most gamers and would back to playing it until they rose to the highest ranks.

#5: Hitman: Contracts (2004)

After Silent Assassin’s success, IO Interactive had to ride on that success. As a result, Contracts was released. The game was also good and improved on areas Silent Assassin failed. Gameplay mechanics felt better. The graphics were slightly better and the soundtrack was more improved.

On the flipside, Contracts came with a disappointing story. It was simply a lazy version of what Silent Assassin and Codename 47 offered. The game had its unique though. Some episodes were incredibly good and IO Interactive was able to immerse players into 47’s journey successfully.

Traveling from Hong Kong to England, Russia to Bulgaria, Contracts was a good game if you love games set in multiple locations. Most of the hotel rooms in the games are also lavish and you might feel like you’re playing a modern game.

Honorary Mention: Hitman Absolution (2012)

IO Interactive had to develop a few patches before Absolution earned the respect of players. The initial release was met with intense hostility. The game’s mechanics felt rushed and the gameplay wasn’t good.

After improvements, Absolution gained momentum in the gaming community. It didn’t become perfect though as certain features like a save function were absent. On the upside, the game had a good narrative.

Unlike some sequels, most episodes in this game were intriguing. It was easy to understand why 47 had to complete a mission and you almost always sided with him. If you’re willing to overlook its flaws, Absolution is worth your time.

Honorary Mention 2: Codename 47 (2000)

The game that introduced Hitman to the world is certainly worth an honorable mention. It was horrible back then and is still horrible today but you have to give IO credit for creating the game. It was intriguing in many ways and most gamers ranked Codename 47 up together with good games of the time despite its flaws.

To Conclude

Sometimes developers lose track when creating sequels and end up coming up with horrible games. IO Interactive hasn’t been perfect but it created some good games in the past few years. Blood Money is arguably the best Hitman Game followed closely by Hitman 2016 and the 2018 version. For slightly different and more calming experience you can visit the website .

Each game is unique but they all share similar gameplay. The only unique Hitman games are the slots inspired by the franchise. The video game sequels share lots of resemblances but they are also intriguing in their own ways.
