One Key Way to Succeed at Hyrule Warriors

When playing through Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition on Nintendo Switch, there is one thing all players can do that could ultimately be the difference between winning or defeat. How you deal with the swarming enemies is probably more important than you think, but focusing on them over objectives is a HUGE mistake!

The game throws the hordes of enemies at you as a hopeful distraction from the main goals of the level you are playing. Outside of outposts you are trying to capture, there isn’t a huge reward in mowing down hundreds of low level baddies. Instead, be sure to focus those attacks on the enemies with health bars as they ultimately control the spawn points, and the ones that deal this most damage.

What’s crazy is following this tip can be the difference between loving Hyrule Warriors, and hating it! Let’s examine that thought.

My brother borrowed my copy of Hyrule Warriors for a weekend, and when he returned it Sunday night he said he had the worst experience, and that he felt like he was set up to fail. Unfortunately for him, this was the result of running through the games early tutorials too quickly without focusing on what he was learning. It wasn’t even about the various moves either, but rather, what all the different blinking icons on the map mean.

Understanding that aspect of the game is of the utmost importance. Without that knowledge, you will attempt to kill hordes of enemies that ultimately will do nothing for your overall progression. And this is where my brother failed.

View the low level enemies as a nuisance, rather than a legitimate problem you need to get rid of. Focus on the objectives, focus on the enemies with health bars over their heads, and you’ll make it through Hyrule Warriors with relative, yet still challenging, ease.
