E3 2019 Predictions – Nintendo

Heading into E3 2019, Nintendo is near the top, if not at the top, of the video game word. It helps when you have the newest system on the market – with the Xbox One and PS4 about to be sunsetted for newer systems in the next few years – and one that people are finding incredibly innovated, especially third party developers!

With E3 right around the corner, Nintendo is once again offering up a few days of Nintendo Treehouse content, which will be proceeded by a lengthy Nintendo Direct that will outline the company’s major titles coming this year. We know more details are coming about Animal Crossing, Pokémon – although to a lesser extent because of the upcoming Pokémon Direct – and Mario Maker 2, amongst other titles; but what about the things we don’t know about? Let’s take a stab at what we might see from Nintendo at E3!

More Zelda

While I expect there to be a fair amount of details the upcoming Legend of Zelda title – remastered, but from the ground up – I wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo capped off their E3 presentation with some tease as to what major, new Zelda title is coming next. I would not expect a release date until late 2020 if not spring 2021, but Nintendo likes to tease what is coming down the pipe.

More Pokemon

We know that Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be hitting the Nintendo Switch later this year, but I think Nintendo and The Pokemon Company International have more in store for us than we think. Nintendo is going to talk about the success of Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee, and announced that the next round of Let’s Go titles are coming to Nintendo Switch sometime in 2020, focusing on Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver!

Further – while I think this is unlikely – Nintendo should announce an update Pokeball Plus that is larger and more comfortable for adult players. With this, they should also announced Pokeball Plus support for Sword and Shield.

Captain Toad?

I always believe that Nintendo brings games from previous systems to their new systems for two reasons: first, they are trying to capitalize on a title that is already developed to make a few extra dollars and provide an experience to those who might not already have played it. Second, I think they are often precursors to what Nintendo has coming. To that end, I would not be surprised to see a new Captain Toad coming to Nintendo Switch this holiday season.

I do not believe this will be a full priced title either, but fall in that 39.99 range.

Mario Kart

Although a new Mario Kart game is about to hit mobile phones, it’s been a long while since Nintendo launched a brand new console Mario Kart experience. And we are going to finally see it at E3 2019. I have to ideas of what this will look like. It will either be a brand new title, with new mechanics and new characters. Or, it will be a Mario Kart Ultimate, and mimic the ideas behind Super Smash Bros ultimate: all karts, all courses, from all the games.

That means a return of Double Dash my friends!

I have many other predictions, but I’ll leave it there! We can find out more June 11th at noon eastern!
