When it comes to gaming, there are always many different opinions and one common question that is asked is whether a game has been a success or is it a failure.
Call of Duty is always a game that gathers reviews from endless numbers of people and remains one of the most successful and followed franchises in history. The recent release of the franchise came in 2019 with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

In regards this recent release, there is absolutely no doubt that it has to be seen as a major success. In the opening three days of release it generated over $600 million and has now become the highest selling game of all time for the franchise. On top of this, it has broken endless sales records and has now far surpassed $1 billion in revenue.
The release has also already picked up a number of awards and has been nominated for many others, which is no surprise with the popularity of the franchise across all gaming platforms. That includes them winning the Best Online Multiplayer award at the 2019 Game Critics’ Awards.
Despite these records being made, the game has come under mixed reviews and even negatives from professionals. One being from Seth ‘Scump’ Abner, who has long been one of the best and most successful players on Call of Duty.
He still remains part of the professional game, and is currently a member of the Chicago Huntsmen team, which are considered one of the best in the world at present. He stated that he thinks this recent game is one of the worst ever from Call of Duty and even believes it could be the worst when it comes to competitive play. This is a huge statement and another example that the game cannot just been seen as a success, due to the money generated.
Call of Duty also recently released ‘Warzone’, which has proven hugely popular and this is also something that Scump believes has ‘saved’ the game. Warzone is proving very popular amongst gamers in lockdown and covers a similar format to that of Fortnite, with the Battle Royale play.
Overall you would have to say the game has been a success and yet another from the record breaking franchise.
