Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo Impressions
What do you get when you cross Paper Mario with the movie Coco? You might get Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo. Let’s talk about this unique game that’s now available on Xbox Gamepass.
Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo is now available on Xbox Gamepass and on other systems. The game stars Kulebra, a snake-like bone creature that finds himself in limbo. There are souls trapped here that can’t move on and its up to Kulebra to help them.
The game looks like Paper Mario a bit, with that same paper-thin style for characters and 3D cardboard look for environments. The character’s design and the story seem more like the movie Coco. There is also no turn-based combat (or any combat) here. Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo is an Adventure game.
As you explore limbo, you collect items and use those items to help different souls. You also collect pearls, as money, and can talk to various characters in each place you visit. So far, I’ve only seen two different areas and both of them are really nice. This game is so very unique and interesting.
The lack of combat means that when its boss battle time, at least with the first boss that I “fought” you take on the boss by answering questions and either getting the answer right or not. You can get help from you handy notebook.
Kulebra is such a neat game. I love its art style and its gameplay. This is game that I’ve been playing a bit and when I’m not playing it, I’m thinking about playing. If you love Paper Mario and if you love Coco, then you should check this game out. It has unique characters and a very interesting style to it.
I’ll continue to play Kulebra and the Souls of Limbo and may write about it again. Its definitely a game well worth checking out.
