Should you be Betting on eSports Matches

Over the last few years, eSports has become bigger than the games industry. It’s grown astronomically to attract the attention of people who might never have been interested in games before. For example, businessmen and sports personalities alike are bringing together their own teams, investing in them, and getting players to the top of their careers. Investing in an eSports team is now viable, as is betting on which teams will win and lose tournaments.

The area of eSports that’s probably seen the biggest growth is betting. More people than ever are now placing bets of all sizes on teams they believe will place or win. A few years ago, this wouldn’t have been something you’d hear about. When betting comes up in a conversation, it’s usually regarding a football game or horse race, not the performance of a highly skilled group of players in a game.

While betting on eSports might now be more prevalent than ever, that doesn’t necessarily make it an easy thing to do. The growth of the betting scene is an almost direct result of the development of eSports in general. Every year brings a host of new games vying for a piece of the eSports pie, and at least one of them usually becomes a staple for years to come.

Take Valorant, for example. This title, from Riot Games, launched and was immediately an eSports hit. It was built to be played by those who practice it for hours and know each character, and the maps, inside out. Then, look at a game like Rainbow Six Siege.

Ubisoft may have had some idea that the game would make a good eSport, but there’s no way that the company could have predicted the surge in popularity it’s seen. It’s now one of the most played games on the planet, standing beside games like CS:GO.

This makes it harder to get into betting on eSports. The more games there are, the harder it is to know your stuff on them. Most people who bet on football have at least some understanding of what they’re doing. They know if a team is due a win or if they’re going to struggle due to external factors. This is knowledge and research that you can get by reading about and watching a team. With eSports, though, it’s different.

You can’t watch an entire team play all the time. They keep their strategies a secret to help them have the edge over the opposition. You might be able to watch individual players if they stream, but then you only know if that one player is good or bad.

You can’t judge an entire team on that. What you need to do is study the team’s past. What has each player achieved that’s earned them a place in the team? What do they do in their personal time that makes them a player worthy of an eSports league? If you can answer these questions, you can make an informed bet.

Finally, you need to find the right betting site. Each site offers slightly different odds, and they’ll all offer those odds on slightly different teams. You need to find the right one for you based on which team you want to bet on. That’s why it’s a good idea to use an eSports betting sites review so that you know which ones offer the best odds.

This allows you to optimize your betting and place bets on sites that will work for you, not take your money or offer you awful odds. If you can do this, then you should be betting on eSports, but know that this last point is a minimum requirement for anyone who wants to start placing bets on an eSports team.
