PSVR is a Hell of a Good Time

Despite the nauseous feeling I got after about 45 minutes of playing Skyrim VR, I quickly realized why there was so much hype around the PSVR, and why my various friends continue to tell me how much I needed this device. Now that I have on, I cannot get enough!

What took me a few second to realize is that games on PSVR might not look as good as games not on PSVR, when you are comparing apples to apples. For example, Skyrim has always struggled with NPC design, and for an open world game, there are plenty of faults that are glossed over my addicting gameplay and a great story. All of those texture issues are magnified on PSVR, and new issues are also introduced, including a fair amount of pop-in!

And yet, I couldn’t put it down. I kept playing and will likely play more tonight, tomorrow night, and into the weekend. Despite the unsatisfactory visuals, and the horrible glitches are become so much more noticeable in VR, I cannot get enough of the concept of VR, and I’m so excited to own one.

There are faults to the device, and at some point I’ll sit back with a more objective lens and knock out an article talking about them. But for the moment, in this moment, I’m having too much fun to care. My biggest worry is that I won’t attach myself to the fan favourite VR titles because I’m not the biggest fan of small budget or indie titles. But time will tell.

With the option to play MOSS, Astrobot, and of course Skryim VR, my next few weeks will be chalked full of things to do and see. Do you have any game suggestions?
