Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series – Episode One Trailer

The Guardians of Galaxy Vol. 2 movie is right around the corner! Why should you care? Because the Guardians are awesome. But there is also a brand new Guardians of the Galaxy game coming out this month! We have a trailer for the game and my impressions of it below.

Guardians of the Galaxy Episode 1: Tangled Up in Blue will be coming out on April 18th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game is developed by Telltale, the creators of the Walking Dead episodes.

Here is a trailer for the game:

And here is how the game is described under the youtube trailer: “From Earth to the Milano to nowhere and beyond, and set to the beat of awesome music, this five-part episodic series puts you in the rocket-powered boots of Star-Lord in an original Guardians adventure.”

The characters in the game look much more like their comic book counterparts than their movie counterparts. Yet, the humor and the focus on “awesome music” reminds me of the movie. Basically, the game seems to be a unique blend of the movie and the comics.

The trailer shows a lot about the game’s story and cutscenes but doesn’t reveal anything about the actual gameplay. I would imagine, though, that the gameplay would be much like the Walking Dead series and Telltales other games. In other words, the focus will be on interacting with the environment and dialogue choices rather than action.

I wonder how Guardians will lend itself to Telltale’s trademark gameplay. I have an easier time thinking of Guardians as an action game rather than an adventure one. Still, the cutscenes in the trailer do look pretty good. Hopefully the Guardians of the Galaxy game will turn out to be great!

Will you be downloading Guardians of the Galaxy Episode 1 on April 18th?
