Things to consider when looking for online casinos

Finding the right online site to play your games can be a difficult process. With so many scam websites available on the internet now, it’s really hard to determine sometimes who you should trust, and who you should avoid.

In order to best help you make that decision, we’ve looked ways to find the best international online casinos for UK players, and suggest things to look for when logging onto these sites.
Note – what we write here is not an endorsement, but a list of things we look for when playing games online. At the end of the day, it’s up to the player to feel comfortable in the environment they choose to play in!

Look for Gambling Help Links

In most western nations, casino sites are required to have links to gambling addictions services, whether that’s simply a number people can call, or a website players can access to get help with a potential gambling addiction. In most jurisdictions, this is the law, and required before any gambling license is issues to a specific organization. If you cannot readily find that information online, there is a chance you are about to play with an unauthorized gambling organization, which could mean loss of funds, theft of your identity, or worse.

The details under gambling addictions services should be pretty detailed as well. You may also find an official statement from the jurisdiction there.

Make Sure the Site is Secure

When gambling online, it’s often customary to buy credits on the site you are playing with, and to do so, that usually requires using a credit card. While there are many online casino sites accepting credit cards from UK players, it’s important to note which sites are secure, and which are not.

Credit Card theft is a huge business, and potentially the number one way scam websites make money. It’s easy enough, however, to determine whether a website is secure or not, and whether or not you should submit credit card information to them. While this shouldn’t be the be-all and end-all of your decision, simply doing this check can quickly identify sites to stay away from.

According to thebalance.com, “Only enter your credit card information on secure websites that will protect your information. You can check a website’s security by checking the URL. On the page that you enter your credit card information, the URL in your browser’s address bar should begin with “https://” and there should be a lock in the lower right corner.”

This is an easy check, and one everyone should be able to quickly do. If you see a website that only has http:// instead of https://, it’s probably wise to not divulge your credit card information – or PayPal, or whatever online wallet you might use – to that website.

Is It Well Written

One of the bigger signs of fraud online is how well a website is written. For whatever reason, scam website and scam email are always riddled with spelling mistakes, grammar issues, and much, much more. A simple scan of a website can quickly identify which organizations you might not want to do business with. A few typos is one thing, but a page littered with them is another. Read the language very carefully, and decide how legitimate the company looks. Any real company would not allow a sub-par website to be rolled out, and if they did, you don’t want to associate with them.

While these tips are not guarantees to finding a good site to play online, they are a good starting point to narrowing your list of potential outlets. Remember, the final decision is always up to you – if you aren’t comfortable playing online, perhaps you shouldn’t be!
