More Thoughts From Me #207: Animal Crossing New Horizons Is Almost Here

Animal Crossing: New Horizons comes out on March 20, 2020! As you may or may not know, I’m a huge Animal Crossing fan. I still play my two Animal Crossing New Leaf towns every day. And so I’m looking forward to New Horizons a lot. In this new More Thoughts, I’ll talk about a lot of the news that come out lately for the game!

As of right now, we have two months until Animal Crossing New Horizons comes out. On the 20th of this month, we’ll have one month! Yeah, I’m counting the days. I’m very excited.

We have been getting a lot of news lately too! It all started with the reveal of some stickers that showed off new animals, than it went to new pictures and advertisements, then we got a whole boat load of returning character reveals and the reveal of the Animal Crossing New Horizons Switch (not for me, but glad its coming). And on Monday, February 3rd, we got a new Animal Crossing New Horizons commercial from Nintendo! You can see that at the start of this article.

The new footage doesn’t show any of the new characters in motion but it does show some new things. We see the New Horizons start screen for the first time. Then we see a brand new island map, fences around trees, a new type of house, and even at the very end, we see a new beach scene. The commerical is short, though it packs a punch!

That said, lets back up a little. The sticker reveal we got recently showed off some new characters. We had seen the Beaver before and the Dodo bird. However, we saw a new Dodo bird in the stickers and we saw a lizard with a bug, an animal with turnips on her head, and some new villigers. The animal with the turnips on her head also appears in a recent advertisement.

This ad where the turnip animal appears has another cool reveal: stairs! New Horizons will have stairs that take you up to a higher level. We don’t know how you put those stairs in. Maybe its one of Isabelle’s new jobs?

We still don’t know a lot about this game. There are a ton of pictures and some new footage out but New Horizons has many mysteries still. Hopefully we’ll get answers soon!

The best news, of course, is the one I mentioned at the beginning of this article: we have two months to go! Soon it’ll be one month! And then next thing you know, we’ll be playing Animal Crossing New Horizons!

By the way, the game will be available for pre-load via the Nintendo Switch eshop in Japan this Saturday (Feb 8)! We have no idea yet when it’ll be available to pre-load in the west.
