Pokemon Trading Card Game – The Value in Elite Trainer Boxes

There are a ton of Pokemon Trading Card Game merchandise you can buy, from booster packs, to tins, to the fairly expensive Elite Trainer Boxes. So many people shy away from purchasing the Elite Trainer Boxes because of the higher cost of the product – generally 59.99 in Canada. With only 8 backs included, some don’t see the value. In reality, there is incredibly value in this package, and they shouldn’t be overlooked.

Recently, we looked at a few Hidden Fates Elite Trainer Boxes, thanks to our friends at The Pokemon Company International. For those questioning the value, let me break it down for you in Canadian dollars:

  • 8 Booster Packs (5.99 per pack in Canada solo)
  • 65 unique card sleeves (100 pack of good, clear sleeves will cost about 5.99)
  • 6 small dice and one large dice (dice can be purchased at local hobby shops for 10-15 cents per dice)
  • Pokemon GX, Poison tokens
  • Card Box (closest equivalent would be 4.99)

In total, we have about 75.00 worth of product in the box for only 60.00 Canadian, so those that question the value in the box don’t know what they are talking about. The biggest bonus, in my opinion, is that the box all of this product comes in doubles as a card box when completely emptied, which can hold hundreds of cards inside. I have about 5 or 6 of these Elite Trainer boxes right now, and each is filled with a different card type. Just having that storage option is incredible!

The cost o the Elite Trainer Box is a bit higher than other Pokemon products, and it can be a difficult financial pill to swallow. As well, the other downside to these boxes is that you won’t get 8 packs of the current series, but generally, 4 of the series depicted on the box – Hidden Fates in this situation – and 4 packs from previous sets that were released.

If you are looking to complete the newest card collection, there is a small argument to spend your money on booster packs instead of this product; but if you are just looking to obtain more cards to build outstanding decks, then this purchase is a no brainer!
