More Thoughts From Me #254: My Crazy 2021 Nintendo Predictions

Its a New Year! And we have no idea what Nintendo has in store for us past February. They just haven’t announced much for this year. That doesn’t mean that Nintendo has nothing. As we know, Nintendo likes their surprises. They want to give us announcements out of nowhere, when we least expect it. So here are my craZy 2021 predictions. Watch me be wrong about every single thing.

blank

My first prediction is that Breath of the Wild 2 will be out in November. Nintendo will show it off in June at E3. Yes, there will be an E3 this year. Whether that’ll be a digital only or a smaller show, who knows?

Anyway, Breath of the Wild 2 won’t be the only big game from Nintendo this year. Let’s announce the December title and then go back to October.

In December, Super Mario Odyssey 2 will come out for Mario’s 35th Anniversary year! The game will be even bigger and better than the first one. It’ll have more worlds based on past Mario games too. It’ll be a huge celebration of all things Mario.

Meanwhile, in October, Bayonetta 3 will finally come out. September’s big title will be Donkey Kong Country: Inset Subtitle Here. Yes it’ll really be called that. Nintendo is getting lazy (no, it’ll be called something else. I’m getting lazy. you knew that).

No game will be released in August. June and July will be good months though.

In June, Nintendo will release a new Kirby game. It’ll be toy themed, which will lead Nintendo to release new amiibo for it.

July will be the month of a Warioware game for the Switch, plus a few titles from third party developers. Actually third parties will help out a lot this year. Square Enix especially. I’ll get back to them.

May will be the month that Nintendo brings out Xenoblade Chronicles X from the Wii U. April will be an off month with nothing. March will be the month of a new Metroid game. A 2D one. Metroid Prime 4 will be shown off in a Direct without a date. Just a glimpse of that game. Thats back in February.

Nintendo’s first Direct of 2022 will be in February. Nintendo will tease some titles on twitter this month.

Also keep an eye on Switch Online for some shocking Game Trials (The Witcher 3) and some surprising Nintendo classics via the NES/SNES games (Earthbound). I think we’ll get GBA games this year too.

Animal Crossing New Horizons will also have a really great year, with updates that add new clothes, holidays, and amazing features that’ll blow your mind right out of your head.

So what about third parties? Here’s where get really crazy!

Square Enix is bringing out Bravely Default 2 for the Switch in February but thats not the only game they have in store for the system. More Final Fantasy games will come to the Switch in 2021, including FF1-6 in collections, Final Fantasy Tactics, and FF13-13-3. Also the Chrono Collection.

Square will also bring two original games to the Switch this year, other than Bravely Default 2. One will be a remake of a classic Square Enix game and the other will be sequel to a classic. I’m just going nuts and saying that we’ll see a new Chrono game coming to the Switch this year. Yeah, it’ll never happen but why not?

Capcom will bring more games to the Switch, including Resident Evil 7 via Cloud like Japan and possibly Resident Evil 2 and 3. Also a Resident Evil character will be announced as one of the final Smash Bros characters. I think Jill. Maybe Barry will be there to introduce her: “You were almost a Jill sandwich!”

Konami will bring Metal Gear Solid to the Switch with a collection: Twin Snakes, Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3! Also more Castlevania games will come to the Switch in a collection and Konami will reveal a surprising new game. Let your imaginations run wild!

blank

Microsoft and Nintendo will finally bring Game Pass to the Nintendo Switch this year. You’ll be able to play Halo, Knights of the Old Republic, and some other classic Xbox games on your Switch. Whoa. Also Microsoft and Nintendo might bring some more Xbox exclusive games to the Switch via Game Pass or maybe just in the eshop.

Sony will bring Ratchet and Clank 1-3 to the Switch this year. Yeah, I said it. It won’t happen. But lets continue to be craZy.

Atlus will bring the games they announced to the Switch, plus Persona 5 Strikers will do so well that they will also Persona 5 Royal for the Switch. It won’t be out in 2021 but people will be happy.

We’ll get some cool indie games this year too: from sims to platformers to first person shooters to action games and beyond. Its going to be a great year for indies!

The Nintendo Switch will have a wonderful year for 2021. No there won’t be a Switch Pro. At least not this year. Nintendo will focus on releasing a lot of great games and third parties will support them more than ever, some through Cloud Gaming or Xbox Game Pass.

blank

Oh and Master Chief will be a Smash Bros character.

And those are my 2021 predictions. I’ll be wrong about everything!
