Fans Place David Hayter Into Ground Zeroes Ending

mgsV-Snake-bike_690x387

It’s too early to tell just how well Kiether Sutherland matched Big Boss. There wasn’t enough conversation in Ground Zeroes to allow the 24 star chance to flex his acting muscle. Despite that, original Snake David Hayter was very much missed, and two fans have gone so far as to put the X-Men writer and voice actor back in the mix.

Before you watch the video below, remember that this is technically the ending to Ground Zeroes, although not all of it. The important stuff at the end has been skipped. This is purely the Motherbase scene, which had already been available in promotional trailers for the game.

By utilizing previous Snake lines, PythonSelkanHD – two brothers from Malta – effectively gave those still unsure about Kiether Sutherland a chance to see how things might have been had Boss not been recast. As mentioned above, there isn’t a huge amount in the way of dialogue here, but the familiar grunting and screams definitely fit.

So what does this prove, if anything? Not an awful lot. It feels more comfortable because it’s the voice we’ve associated with the character for years. There’s no huge range here, no real comparison between Hayter and Sutherland. It’s awesome to see, and I hope out of curiosity that other people take up the huge job of redoing other parts of the game, but it won’t change anything, and it shouldn’t. We need to see Sutherland in action before we can fully form an opinion.
