LEGO The Hobbit Trailer Released

LEGO The Hobbit, revealed over the last few weeks for a series of systems longer than the Hobbit movies themselves, was previously only shown off through a screenshot. Now Warner Bros have released a trailer that shows off The Hobbit, the humour and the journey that you’ll be undertaking next year if you pick it up in 2014.

The most striking thing about the LEGO The Hobbit reveal was that it will contain only levels from the first two films: An Unexpected Journey and The Desolation of Smaug. They will add the bonus levels, you would hope, either through DLC or, at a push, through another game.

Having now seen the trailer, it’s more striking how well they’ve again captured the feel of things while adding the LEGO twist that makes the whole thing so amusing. I was against the use of voice acting when it was announced for the LEGO Lord of the Rings games, but with each glimpse I see of them doing it right, I feel less put off by the whole thing.

No gameplay as of yet, although you can expect it to be very similar to LEGO Lord of the Rings when it finally comes out. The press release mentions “the most diverse quests of any LEGO game to date,” but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything until we see what they’re offering.

LEGO The Hobbit will be available at some point ahead of the third film, There and Back Again, in 2014. You’ll be able to buy it for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo 3DS and PC.
