amiibo Cards Sold Out

On the eve of the launch of Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer, it appears as if Animal Crossing amiibo cards are sold out at almost every retailer, and those that are not sold out will have limited stock. What I’m basically saying is: if you don’t go get your copy of the game the second the store opens, there is a good chance you won’t get any amiibo cards.

It will be interesting to see what the availability of amiibo cards will be. Regular amiibo figures are notorious for being hard to find, with certain characters going for 3 or 4 times their retail value on eBay. With amiibo cards, Nintendo should be able to provide ample stock for everyone, but perhaps there is a bonus to keeping them limited. The more limited they are, the more people will want to buy them.

We would like to hear from you. Are you excited about amiibo cards? Do you think Nintendo will make it a priority to have lots of stock in every store? Only time will tell how popular these cards become. With so many to collect, it will be interesting to see if anyone goes for a perfect set. If early preorder numbers are any indication, however, expect these cards to sell out quickly, everywhere. A successful run of amiibo cards will only entice Nintendo to create more of them – Mario or Zelda anyone?
