Would you Sand Down your New-Gen Consoles?

xboxone-brushedaluminium

There’s a new fad starting to gain traction. You take your shiny plastic electronic devices, sand them down and leave them looking like brushed aluminium. It’s not an unpleasant change, but one that could be so easily screwed up. Here’s the question: would you risk taking sand paper to your brand new PlayStation 4 or Xbox One?

Doesn’t it seem like the easiest possible thing? The fact of the matter is, doing it wrong could make it look like your console had a fight with a drunken hedgehog, and I can see a younger person breaking into his dad’s tools and doing real damage. Still, it’s not without its appeal. It certainly looks a little less mass-produced than in its store bought state.

Wii-U-Polished-Aluminium

You can perform this “mod” with any black plastic device, including the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Wii U, at your own risk anyway. While it’s not limited to consoles, you can expect that’s where the idea will ultimately be most popular, especially since it’s such a simple idea and professional modders will be able to charge an arm and a leg for something relatively popular and not at all time consuming.

What do you reckon? Would you be willing to take the risk, to sand down your quite expensive luxury purchase?
