PlayStation TV Coming to the West

PS-vita-tv

PlayStation TV is an amazing little device that’s basically a non-portable PlayStation Vita. It offers everything the Vita can do, with the small difference of it not actually being able to go anywhere. You plug it into your TV, grab your Dualshock 3 and can play the likes of the rather brilliant Gravity Rush from the comfort of your armchair.

There was one little downside: PlayStation TV was previously only available in Japan, and Sony had done little to change the fact. Today, at their E3 conference, they’ve announced that it’ll be available later this year in the US.

That probably means you can expect a wider western release as well.

The price is fairly reasonable. You’ll be able to get the PlayStation TV for as little as $99, although there’s also a special bundle for $139 which will include a copy of The Lego Movie Game, an 8GB memory card and a Dualshock 3.

PlayStation TV will be able to do almost everything the Vita can do at launch. That includes the ability to play PS1 classics and digital titles. Upcoming titles – including Tales of the Borderlands, the Telltale/Gearbox Crossover – will also be playable at release.

So, in other words, if you don’t have a Vita yet, you’ll soon get the opportunity to change that.
