Now Deus Ex has been Rendered in Unreal 4

DeuxEx-Unreal4

Some people have been saying this is the generation of the re-release, but with the excitement over the Bioshock Unreal 4 render, that’s no surprise. People want the same games they played last generation, only looking slightly better. Now the team behind the Quixel Suite of art tools have redone Deus Ex: Human Revolution and rendered it in the Unreal Engine 4, and, again, it’s something that’d be awesome to see playable.

Unlike the Bioshock video, this is just a camera runthrough of a location, but it looks great. Opposed to the dirty, rusty depths of Rapture, this is a sci-fi world of clean neon lights and flawless plastic walls. It’s also probably a better example of what the Unreal Engine 4 is capable of, considering that it’s using new assets (the Bioshock render used parts from the original game). Marks on the floor and reflections in dull surfaces show the lengths that developers can go to to make the worlds they create more real.

This is basically an advertisement for the Quixel Suite, so it’s important to note that this isn’t the sort of thing that’s suddenly going to happen on your PS4 or Xbox One (if ever). Developers will need to make their own tools, not to mention working within the boundaries that the people who make these videos – with their super high-end PCs – just don’t have to worry about. Still, it shows a picture of the future that it’s exciting to see.
