Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor stars Nolan North and Troy Baker

Most developers have a problem. It’s obvious that either Nolan North or Troy Baker needs to be cast as the male lead, but which one? The creators of Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor have foregone this problem by hiring them both, and have released a story trailer to show off the world which they’ll inhabit.

Troy Baker takes his versatile vocal cords to the main main character, Talion, while Nolan North will voice Black Hand. The trailer shows how Talion learns to harness his powers and shows off some pretty interesting new footage as well. The graphics are still as strong as ever, and the idea, while likely to cause concern for Tolkien purists, still remains an interesting one. Some are still pointing out the similarities to Assassin’s Creed, and it’s hard to argue, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing on any level. With the supernatural elements, taking the best from another established series and building on it, there’s little reason to be too hard on the folks behind the game.

Also announced today, Bioshock Infinite composer Garry Schyman will be scoring the game, hopefully taking inspiration from the Peter Jackson films. Shadow of Mordor is currently available to pre-order and will be released across every platform going, although obviously play it on PC, Xbox One or PlayStation 4 if you want to get the most out of it.
