Incoming Second Son Patch Adds Fan Requested Features

infamous ss 3

It’s been less than two weeks since InFamous: Second Son and it’s already seen its first two patches. Despite that, there’s still more to come. Sucker Punch’s Brian Fleming took to the PlayStation Blog to describe some of the new features you’ll find in the upcoming patch.

First of all, you’ll be able to change the time of day. Those that have finished the game find themselves stuck in a specific time frame, and this new option will help them shake it up a little. There will also be an option to turn the HUD off, meaning all you’ll see is the gameplay itself. This isn’t much fun for actual gamers, and in fact it’ll be a hassle to use, but for those that enjoy taking screenshots or video, it’s one of the major ways of making things look professional, and it’s fantastic you’ll be able to do it without resorting to tricks.

Finally, you’ll be able to lock your gameplay at 30FPS. To those not familiar with the idea, it might seem counter-intuitive. Surely, more frames per second is a good thing? While strictly true, having an uncapped amount of frames a second mean there will likely come a time your system starts to struggle. With a 30FPS cap, you get a less smooth overall experience, but a better chance of not ever seeing any drops.

The patch will also contain several bug fixes. It won’t be available for a few weeks yet, although what it contains might not be limited to the above. Keep checking the PlayStation Blog for further information.
