You Don’t Suck This Bad at Mario

Super-Mario-Bros

This is some of the most impressive gaming you’ll see this year – it’s also technically some of the worst. One YouTuber, NotEntirelySure, has gone out of his way to do the worst run at Mario possible – 500 points at the end of the game. What’s most impressive is just how skilled he needed to be to pull this off. Prepare yourself for a few open-mouthed smiles as you watch.

That’s right – so precise is NotEntirelySure that you’d be impressed even if it wasn’t a record. 500 points for the whole game – remember that coins alone are worth 200 – is a staggeringly low amount, and it means he’s not been able to pick anything up, or finish a level before the very last second. It also took a few glitches, although that takes little away from the actual skills on display.

The video lasts less than ten minutes, although there are moments that have been skipped. These are just because he gets through each stage so quickly that he must wait at the end, by the flag, until the final second. He dies only once, and that’s because the timing on the jump has to be incredibly precise.

It’s amazing that Mario still manages to throw out new challenges and ideas, and this is one that puts me off the idea entirely. If you have to be this good to be this bad, I’m stopping right there.
