Lightning Returns Demo Available Soon

Final Fantasy XIII wasn’t everybody’s cup of tea. Square Enix managed to fix the most common problems with Final Fantasy XIII-2, and there were still people that weren’t satisfied with their purchase (or by the trailers they watched on YouTube, at least). Before you make the same mistake again with Lightning Returns, consider downloading the demo, available on Xbox 360 today and PlayStation 3 tomorrow.

The Lightning Returns demo isn’t only a way for gamers to check out how they’ll feel about the final entry in the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy. Square Enix are also planning to link in their social media Outerworld service. Players can trade stories and comments, gift one another objects and share pictures taken within the game. Trying out the Outerworld in the demo will give you access to the exclusive Siegfried costume when you buy the full retail version of the game later this year. It launches on February 14th.

The other plus to there being a demo means user impressions will soon make it to the internet. While some of them are going to hate the game regardless – no doubt they’ll say how much everybody hates Lightning – some of the more balanced write-ups will be well worth looking into.

Xbox Gold users can download the Lightning Returns demo now, PlayStation 3 owners tomorrow, Xbox Silver users on the 28th.
