Released late last month, The Colonists is a casual city builder from the one-man, UK-based indie developer Codebyfire. Inspired by classic games such as The Settlers and the Anno series, The Colonists adds some welcome twists and innovation to a genre that at times can fall into a very repetitive pattern.

The karting scene on Nintendo has been dominated by Mario Kart for as long as I can remember, despite valiant efforts by others such as Sonic Team Racing, and now, Nickelodeon Kart Racers! Understandably, it's hard to go up against a giant like Mario Kart and succeed, but with a lower price points, and loads of entertainment to be had, the offering from Nickelodeon comes close to being right up next to Mario Kart!

Yesterday, Nintendo had a Treehouse Live and showed off several games. The game that stood out the most to me was Yoshi’s Crafted World! Home Sweet Home is a first-person indie-horror game inspired by Thai myths and beliefs that was recently released on PS4 and Xbox One from Thai developer Yggdrazil. Yggdrazil is not known for game creation, as it boasts projects in VFX, Animation, Art Design and Online-Editing categories, with very little focus on games. For a company with such a diverse portfolio, it would be an understatement to say I was surprised with the overall quality of Home Sweet Home.
