Loot Crate/Gaming/Wear Extravaganza! September 2016

All of our Loot Crate themed boxes arrived around the same time last month, so we are going to dive into them all at once. Overall, the boxes were fairly impressive, and while we enjoyed certain items over others, in general things were above average as usual!

Loot Crate – Speed

This months Loot Crate theme was speed, and the items in the box definitely mimicked the theme to perfection. First up was the Flash automobile hood ornament. I’m leading off with this because it was definitely the least impressive item in this box. When I think of a hood ornament, I think of something that is solid – this, frankly, is not that at all. It feels pretty cheap and light to me, and I’m not sure the plastic coating would hold up over time.

The Stark Racing Shirt is brilliant. It’s the perfect shirt for that NASCAR fan in your life, but casual enough that everyone could wear it. Everyone I’ve met since getting my shirt has been really positive about the shirt, and a few people even offered to buy it. That’s an endorsement in and of itself!
I’m a big fan of Titan Vinyls, and this month we got a Star Trek Cylon Raider figure that is currently on my desk at work. Again, the number of compliments i get about that figure is outstanding!

The other items this month finished off the box beautifully. The Shelby Mustang GT500 from Gone in 60 Seconds – which would have made it to my desk if my kids hadn’t taken it – was a great addition to the box, as was this months Loot Pin, playing nicely on the Goodyear brand, except with Lootyear! To top it off, my key chain is a bit heavier this month as I swapped out my last key chain to put on my high quality batman key chain.
Overall, it’s a solid 8/10 box this month!

Loot Wear – Speed

I’m getting really excited for each months Loot Wear, as they seem to get better and better each month. Not only are we getting great wearable items, but more official items as well. That is where I’m staring off this month, with an official Nintendo licence tShirt!

Victory! No, that is not a reference to Drama from Entourage and his role on Viking Quest, but rather the super awesome Mario Kart tShirt that came in this months Loot Wear. The words VICTORY surround a great logo of those damn blue shells. You know, the one that makes you lose when you are about to win? Ya, that one. The design is great overall, and looks especially awesome on the black tshirt. Everything is distressed a little bit to give it that racing feel!
I’ve mentioned before that I love getting socks in my subscription boxes, because they allow me to jazz up my suits in a business setting. The Sonic the Hedgehog socks in this months box are fantastic, and will top my previous Mega Man Socks (also in a Loot Wear bag) as my go-to socks for days when I’m wearing a suit! The Deadpool socks were also really great, but since I’m not a huge Deadpool fan, I passed them along to someone who was.

The Transformers Football (soccer) jersey was a bit odd to me. Yes, it’s a cool idea, but I’m not sure how well those worked together. Regardless, my younger brother – who collects soccer jerseys – was very appreciative to have it, and he seems to think it is really cool! Although this might not be an item for all Loot Wear fans, I’m sure they know someone who will appreciate it more than they will.

Loot Gaming – Battleground

This months Loot Gaming was incredibly heavy, and I was intrigued to see what was inside. What a great, useful box we got this month. I like absolutely everything inside, which is becoming a good trend with this particular subscription box.
I’m a firm believer that you can never have too many multitools. And although some are definitely cheaply made, this is not the case for this months Dead Rising 4 item. The tool has a little bit of everything, and should zombies awake and begin taking over the earth, this handy little thing could be my best friend. But seriously, I like being able to show off my nerdy side in every day activities, and when I bust out this multitool, it will make for a great conversation starter. Let’s face it: who doesn’t like Dead Rising?

A little ways up this article I mentioned that the Mario Kart shirt I got was amazing, and one of the best ever. That is a true statement, until I looked at this months (officially licenced) Bethesda Fallout tshirt. It is fantastic! The design – multiple pip boys on a blue background – is phenomenal, and makes for a great tshirt to wear anywhere; my wife even lets me wear this one in public, which is saying a lot because…well, I won’t air my personal dirty laundry here!

Gears of War 4 is a fantastic title, no doubt about it. We gave it a 9.0 in our review. That being said, I’m not sure I’d trust myself with a real lancer so…Loot Gaming fixed me up with a small, rubber one that I can display on my desk. That seems to be the theme this month across all their products: things that can be displayed on a desk. The gun itself is really detailed and the quality is great! Looking forward to seeing what conversations I can get out of this fine figure!

The other items in this months box were nice, but nothing to really go into depth on. The Battlezone shot glasses are nice, and are already in use at my house. The Dark Souls comic is really intriguing to me, and although I have not yet read through it, I’m really looking forward to it. I’m not a huge fan of posters in my boxes, so those never excite me. And finally, the pin is once again amazing and highly detailed. The Loot Gaming pins are head and shoulders above the competition when it comes to collectable buttons and pins!
