More Thoughts From Me E3 Edition: Square Enix Direct. I guess

EA, Microsoft, and Bethesda have all had media conferences now. Today, at noon, was Square Enix’s turn. I watched the event and…well…it could have been better. A lot better.

Square Enix did not hold a press conference today. Instead, they had a video. It was basically like a Nintendo Direct. A poor man’s Nintendo Direct…

Game after game was shown by Square Enix with very little extra talking. Unfortunately, there were very little surprises too. We knew about most of the games shown during this video (the Kingdom Hearts 3 video was almost the same one shown at Microsofts event) and the ones we didn’t know about looked just ok.

For me, the best part of the video was the footage of Dragon Quest 11. The game looks great! Though, I was reminded again that it is only coming out for the Playstation 4 this year. sigh

As for the Nintendo Switch, it was only mentioned once during the entire video. Square Enix showed off Octopath Traveler for the Switch. There were no surprise new games. Square didn’t even show The World Ends With You!

Overall, Square Enix’s video was only a half hour and it wasn’t that good. I imagine the Nintendo Direct tomorrow will be about that length. I hope Nintendo is better prepared with surprises and excitement unlike Square.

What did you think of Square Enix’s video? What was your favorite game shown?

Next: Sony will air their presentation tonight. I’ll be watching and write about it afterwards!

Tomorrow: Nintendo Direct E3! Can’t wait.

More Thoughts From Me is an opinion column. The thoughts expressed here are mine and mine alone. I’m hoping that Nintendo just asked Square Enix to save any surprises for tomorrow for the Nintendo Direct…
