More Thoughts From Me E3 Edition: Microsoft Brings The Games

Hello. How is everyone? Can we now pretend like EA didn’t go yesterday? Can we pretend like Microsoft is the one who started E3? If you didn’t see today’s Microsoft E3 conference, you may be wondering: “Why would we do that?” Well…hey…I can’t give away my entire article in this introduction. Instead, lets JUMP IN.

I had my doubts going into this years Microsoft E3 conference. Xbox just hasn’t been doing too great lately. And then I saw the conference and…

I was blown away!

Microsoft brought the games. They brought a ton of games, exclusive, third party, first party, indie games, you name it. The Xbox One lineup is stunning. This is coming from a Nintendo fanboy people. I am a Nintendo fanboy. I don’t even have an Xbox One. I was very impressed.

What was so impressive about Microsoft’s conference? It wasn’t just the quantity of what was shown. It was the quality too.

I want to talk about some of these games. I can’t talk about all of them. That would be impossible. Well, maybe not but we’d be here a lot longer than I want to be here. That would be a huge article. So let me try to hit the highlights…

Forza Horizon 4: This game made my jaw drop. I’m not a Forza fan. I’ve always thought the games were too slow and just not my type of racing game. All of that went out the window with the footage of this game. The real time graphics were stuning. The changing seasons looked amazing. Best of all though was how fast the cars went. It just looked so great. I love all that off-road stuff too.

Halo Infinite: What a way to start off the conference! I didn’t know what this game was at first. Was it a new Monster Hunter? Some new open world game? Then we find out that its Halo! I think it looks like the best Halo yet. I want to see more footage of this game!

Fallout 76: I was surprised to see this game during the Microsoft conference. I thought we wouldn’t see this game till tonight. I am big fan of the Fallout franchise (especially Fallout 3). This new game looks wonderful. Big open areas to explore! Washington D.C. And as always the backstory for Fallout is perfect. I know this game probably won’t be coming to the Switch. I am so jealous.

Kingdom Hearts 3: Another game I wasn’t expecting to see during this presentation. Kingdom Hearts 3 looks like the best Kingdom Hearts game yet! The Frozen scenes made me really happy. I fully admit that Frozen is one of my favorite recent Disney movies. To see Donald and Goofy and Sora there with Frozen characters was really great. Toy Story, Monsters Inc and all the other things shown were fantastic. I wish I could play this game.

Indie Games Galore: We got Ori, We happy Few, Tunic (Zelda anyone?!) and many more indie games shown during this presentation. I love that Microsoft is fully on board with indie companies and are even buying some of these smaller delevopers so that they can continue to make more awesome games.

Battletoads Returns: Sure, yes, they didn’t show anything of this game but man, I thought this reveal was so cool. I never even played the original! Wow. I bet a bunch of people can’t wait.

I could just go on and on about Microsoft’s conference today. Gears 5, The Division 2, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Devil May Cry 5 and so many many more.

Microsoft is going to be the company to beat this year. I just don’t see how Sony or Nintendo are going to beat Xbox’s conference. How will they do it?! I don’t know. I don’t think they will. I hope I’m wrong. I’d love to see Sony and Nintendo do just as well (or better?!) than Xbox.

We’ll see folks!

What do you think? Did you enjoy the Xbox E3 conference today? Let us know in the comments!

Tomorrow: I’ll be writing up another More Thoughts on Square Enix and Sony. And then Nintendo on Tuesday! Can’t wait!

More Thoughts From Me is an opinion column. The thoughts expressed here are mine and mine alone. Wasn’t that Xbox conference awesome?!
