Bowser’s Minions Looks Like A Great New Addition to Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga

There were two Mario rumors that I didn’t believe: Mario + Rabbids and a remake of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. I was wrong. OK? Can we let this go now? I’m happy to be wrong. The Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga remake for 3DS looks really good! But I have to admit that as good as it looked, the new game Bowser’s Minions thats added to Superstar Saga looks even better.

Bowser’s Minions, included with the new Mario & Luigi remake, is a totally different game from Superstar Saga. The battles work completely different and instead of an open world to explore, the player is given a linear strategy rpg like map that they travel. This game is a bit more straight forward than Superstar Saga but that doesn’t mean its dull.

There seems to be a huge amount of strategy to Bowser’s Minions. You must pick the right team for every battle and you can make up several teams before hand. It does not look like the player controls the team directly, expect for the occasional button input for extra attacks. Instead, the player is the captain of the team and must direct the squad via commands on the touch screen. The battles looks quick and crazy. Just one wrong move and the whole battle can be lost.

I love strategy rpgs. I love rpgs altogether to be honest. Bowser’s Minions isn’t exactly a strategy rpg or an rpg, but it has elements of both. I’m not really sure what genre you’d put this game under. Maybe real time strategy? I’m not sure and honestly, it doesn’t even matter. Bowser’s Minions looks fun. Its a great new addition to Superstar Saga and one of the biggest reasons to pick this remake up.
