Although the UFC has suffered in the absence of mercurial star Conor McGregor, he is pictured on the front of the game as the undisputed king of the promotion. The influence the Irishman has had on the sport as whole is certainly replicated in the game, with some pretty fascinating features which sets EA Sports’ latest offering apart from its two predecessors. In fact, watching a fight between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz, played by the two best gamers in the world, could be something which could influence eSports betting available at sites like 188Bet.

It would an interesting opportunity for fans of the sport and the game itself to have the means to spectate and potentially make money from betting on two players of equal stature. The UFC’s push to get more fans interested in MMA would also surely be rewarded by investing in this type of scenario. For example, the idea of hosting tournaments at the T-Mobile Arena, inside the Octagon, would push the brand even more and promote more participation in not just the game, but MMA itself. While graphics and playability give the impression of authenticity, the fact that characters don’t get arrested or go broke at any point reminds us that it is just a game.

With eSports potentially set to feature at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, and the number of participants set to skyrocket, there can be no doubt that eSports will continue to grow in stature over the next few years. What sets some gamers apart from others is the type of games which they play. While games such as Counter-Strike, League of Legends, Street Fighter V and so on have massive interest around the world, there are still other games which are maybe confined as niche in some quarters.

That is not to say that traditional sports games are not widespread across the world, as soccer games such as EA Sports’ FIFA franchise and the popular Pro Evolution Series shows. Typical high-sellers such as EA Sports’ Madden and NBA offerings are also enjoyed around the world, and the level of interaction makes them highly popular for team games. Where UFC games differ is that they have essentially been a one-man show, although there is the introduction of team bouts in the latest edition of the game.

The gaming giant’s Fight Night series was also a very big deal among fans of the “sweet science,” although the last game was released seven years ago. The prospect of bringing these types of games into the mainstream, and as events worthy of cover charge and filling arenas looks incredibly likely to happen one day.

As for the popularity of eSports, the only way is up right now. By targeting different players and sets of fans according to their propensity to be attracted to certain games and sports, it may be conceivable to have an Olympics which is explicitly made up of gamers.
