Three Things Assassin’s Creed Origins Doesn’t Need…But Would Be Cool

Assassin’s Creed Origins is easily one of the best games released in 2017, and it has even taken my top spot amongst Assassin’s Creed titles since the original, topping my previous all-time favorite, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag. From start to finish, exploring Ancient Egypt and removing its citizens from the grasp of a tyrannical leader was an amazing experience. With so much to do, there really was never a dull moment. Quests were varied, and the chance at rare and legendary loot made me explore every nook the game had to offer. When we look back at past Assassin’s Creed experiences, however, there were some game play elements that were never added to Origins. We decided to look at 3 changes Assassin’s Creed Origins could have made, despite not needing to!

Number 1 – Base Building

For Bayek, Siwa is home, and you are introduced to this beautiful little Egyptian village right away in your adventure. Siwa isn’t the most happening place in Ancient Egypt, but there is a good amount of commerce, religion, and of course, military rule to satisfy the small population. In past Assassin’s Creed titles, the great developers over at Ubisoft have provided players with another game play element that would allow them to step away form the main adventure, and engage in base building that ultimately could supply the protagonist with money, resources, and a place to call home.

Imagine Siwa as a customizable town, where Bayek could return after long journeys to invest, upgrade, and protect his hometown. Imagine having town folks able to gather resources for you, sending them out on expeditions much like you could do with ships in Black Flag. Imagine being able to train mercenaries that you could call upon in your adventures, who could fight for you when the road gets tough. These are all things I would have really enjoyed, but are not present in Assassin’s Creed Origins.

Origins did not need this experience, but it would have been fun!

Number 2 – Open World Multiplayer

Past Assassin’s Creed titles have had a multiplayer component, where fans of the franchise could don all their assassination garb and fight it out in confined arenas. There was fun to be had in these modes, but it was never something that set Assassin’s Creed apart from other franchises.

Multiplayer in Origins could have been so much different, and so much better. With a huge world to explore, doing so with friends could have been such a fantastic experience, one that Ubisoft is known for. Look at Ghost Recon Wildlands, for example, where you can team up with other players online at any time to play around in the massive sandbox of Bolivia! Look at the upcoming Far Cry 5, where players will be encouraged to fight the cult with friends by their sides. Ancient Egypt would have provided the perfect backdrop for a some open world, multiplayer fun.

Yes I know, it would have thrown the story out of wack having two Bayek’s running around Egypt, but the concept itself could have been fun! Again, not something Origins needed, but it would have been a great experience!

Number 3 – First Person Mode

While not everyone is a fan of first person games, it would be cool to experience Assassin’s Creed Origins completely in first person. While the wall climbing and close combat probably would suite that type of gameplay, having it as an option for various situations would have been a cool added feature. While I completely understand that this would have taken a ton more development time, it’s again something Assassin’s Creed Origins didn’t need, but it would have been fun.

What do you think? Anything you would want to see in Assassin’s Creed Origins that isn’t there?
