Final Fantasy XV Demo Has No Cars – This is Why

FFXV_Accordo

Transport is going to be a big part of the next Final Fantasy game, although you may not know that from the upcoming Demo. Director Hajime Tabata told Polygon why that was.

Originally we were planning on making the car be available to drive throughout the world and throughout the demo. But we didn’t want people to mistake it and think ‘When did Final Fantasy become a driving game?’

You’ll be able to experience the starting point of what an open-world Final Fantasy would potentially feel like. You’ll really be able to experience that seamless Final Fantasy world within the demo itself, but then if you play it, you’ll still really get a sense that it’s a Final Fantasy game. You’ll get that balance within the demo.

Tabata said that XV would be a big evolution for the series, something that has usually resulted in a major splitting of the fanbase. For that reason, the demo has been structured in such a way as to appeal to old time fans of the franchise.

We’ve re-thought the demo in order for it to be more playable and accessible to people who know the franchise

The Final Fantasy XV demo will be available as a bonus for those that pick up Final Fantasy Type-0 HD in March. No word yet if it will be available elsewhere.
